Byron Tutt Obituary
Byron was born August 10, 1947, in Augusta, GA. He is a graduate of Lucy Craft Laney High School. He attended Paine College and earned a dual degree in History and English. A retired educator, he taught in Richmond and McDuffie counties. During his tenure as an educator, Byron won several awards for Teacher of the Year and was in innovator in the field of special education curriculum. Byron was the youngest and first African American National Boy Scout Executive in the country. He earned his Wood Badge certificate in Cimarron, New Mexico. Byron was also an avid enthusiast of car restoration, bowling, music and home movies.
Byron is preceded in death by his parents, Deacon Verdery and Mrs. Eulala McCladdie Tutt, sister, Valeria Joyce Tutt Day, brother, LaVerte Tutt and grandson, Taylor Tutt.
Survivors include his children, Ingrid Tutt, Sharmen "Sissy" Tutt and Byron (Yakita) Tutt all of Augusta, GA; five grandchildren, Tia A. Tutt, Jordan Tutt (Atlanta), Jamiah Morgan, Colby Tutt and Makhi Tutt; sister-in-law, Betty Morgan Tutt; brother-in-law Griffin Day; nieces, Monica (Larry) Stevens, Veronica Tutt, Marva Tutt and Valeria Day; great niece, Jordan Stevens; great nephew, Justin Stevens of Augusta and a host of loving family and friends.
Memorial services will be conducted Tuesday, May 30, 2017 at 2:00 p.m. from Antioch Baptist Church, 1454 Florence Street, Reverend K. B. Martin, pastor-eulogist.

Bryon is my cousin. His mother and my grandmother were sisters. I will always remember Byron as one who loved life and always brought smiles and laughter to all who knew him. They're together now- Aunt Eulala, Verdrey, Joyce, LaVert, and Byron. He will be missed.
