Darise Key Obituary

AUGUSTA, Ga. - Darise LaTrail Key entered into rest on April 5, 2016 at University Hospital. His funeral will be at 11am on Saturday, 4/9/16, at the Good Hope Missionary Baptist Church at 710 E. Cedar St., Augusta, Ga. The burial will commence afterwards at Walker Memorial on Laney Walker Blvd. He was born to the late Mr. Joe L. Key and Mrs. Anita Key on October 27, 1957 in Augusta, Ga. He attended Lucy Craft Laney High School, graduating class of 1975. He was preceded in death by two brothers, Felix Key and Reginald Key. He is survived by his loving wife, Mrs. Peggy Key, and three children, Jerome Wiley Jr. (Atlanta), Karima Holmes (Washington, DC), and Kolik Holmes (LaShawna); six grandsons, Jayden, Adonis, Kolik Jr., LaTrail, Jaleel and K'Shawn; sisters, Valerie Key, Robin Key, both of Augusta and Krystal Tolbert Harper (Philadelphia, PA) and a brother, Dennis Knieves. He is also survived by a host of aunts, uncles, nieces, nephews, cousins and friends.

Mr. Key will be missed at the Pinnacle Club. He was such a gentleman and always greeted me with a smile. I was shocked when I read my newsletter. I had no idea he passed.

My deepest and warmest condolences go out to Mrs. Peggy, friends, and family of everyone who knew and loved Mr. Darise Key. I never met Mr. Key but I felt as if I did through his beautiful wife Mrs. Peggy who spoke nothing but good things about him at work! Darise was special. From the time I met him 20 years ago, he always has exhibited exceptional kindness, courtesy, and fine manners. He always remembered me and my wife by name and could recount the circumstances of our long association. The world and Augusta will feel his absence.
