Dr. Ruehle was my Vet for many, many years. I've rescued many animals over the years and been to see him so many times that I feel like he was family. I call him an "old school" vet and I mean that in the best way possible. He always balanced compassion with practicality. When I would lose a pet, he would put his arm around me and squeeze tightly with a quiet "Sorry". It was just what was needed to show how much he cared. My furry friends and I will miss him so much. Prayers to his family, friends, and co-workers. I'm not sure how many people will be greeting him when he gets Up There, but I know there will be a huge stampede of all kinds of animals ready with wags and licks and cuddles.

There is not enough room to write all of the wonderful things we have to say about Dr. Reuhle. We loved him very much. I remember two incidents in particular; we were losing a goat baby late one night. I called him at home and he talked me through the needed surgery to save the kids life. A second time, our beloved Bear dog was dying when he was just a puppy. He spent seven days in the hospital. Dr. Reuhle would call me every morning around 7:00 am to update us. Bear lived to 13, just dying last month and to his dying day we would get him in the car by saying "Let's go see Dr. Reuhle!"

Mrs. Reuhle, we're sorry we can't be with you at this time, but please know that you and your family are in our thoughts and prayers.

My heart and prayers are with you. Like Charlie, his struggle is over, his race is won. He is at home with The Father and whole once again.

While we had known each other only for a little over these last 2 years, David's gentlemanly warm and family knowledge were evident to me. I only wish I had known about him when my father served Baptist churches near Wrens, Thomson and Gibson and in Avera. Perhaps then we could have had a life-time of friendship.
Like David, I was born in 1945 (April 7th). And like David, I graduated from college in 1969 (in Augusta).
Now David's body is a rest. He love for animals, great and small, will live on. And, his love for God and family and county will be his legacy.
