Marlowe:

I offer my deepest and most sincere condolences to you and your family on the loss of your father. I don't know if you remember me telling you this when we were in college. I was Mayor for the day (during high school local government in action week) when I was at Laney and I had the opportunity to spend an entire day with your dad as Mayor of Augusta. He was truly a great Mayor, innovator, mentor, and a King among men. Unfortunately, I could not attend the funeral but I know in my heart that the angels in heaven have welcomed him with open arms. Take comfort in knowing that he is with his maker and will always be loved by me and so many others. Take care bro and god bless you.

Ed was my cousin that I never knew. I am related through the McIntyre's of Lakeland, Florida. I am deeply sadden by his death, and my heartfelt sympathy goes out to his beloved family and all who had the privilege of knowing him. He accomplished so much in his life, and we McIntyre's are extremely proud of him. Thank you Ed for all you have done to make this world a better place. Right now, there are McIntyre's in Lakeland Florida doing good deeds on a smaller scale. Ed's light will never be seen again. It is with deep heartfelt feelings that I express my condolences on the lost of Mr. McIntyre. He was a dear friend to me and my family. After the passing of my father, when I was only five years old, he also took the time to be like a father to me. Alot of who I would like to think I am is attributable to him. One of his earliest influences on me was the choosing of our beloved alma mater, Dear Old Morehouse College. He also was a perfect example of how to be a man. His love for God and family were self-evident. I will miss him dearly. It is times like these we have to draw on the teachings of Rev. McInytre and realize that God will comfort us and see us through.

As president of the Augusta Branch of the NAACP, please allow me to convey our heartfelt sympathy to Juanita, Wanda, Marlow and Ashley. Ed was a Life Member of the NAACP and worked hard to unite this community. His vision of "ONE" Augusta will reign in the hearts of community leaders and citizens for many years to come.

As a leader, he was never a quitter. He was a fighter until the end. He believed that one day "his city" would rise above them all in Georgia and this great nation.

Personally, I am truly inspired today by the wisdom and courage he shared with me. Great leaders never die. They live in our hearts forever.

Had it not been for the press conference Ed McIntyre called at T.W.Josey High School in December of 1998, the "Sonic Boom of the South" would have never had the opportunity to participate in the 1999 NOKIA Sugar Bowl in New Orleans. Ed, thank you, and we thank you for making this city a place we can all cherish and call "ONE" Augusta.

Mr. McIntrye was not a monument, but a movement.A legendary pioneer of real grass root politics and a profound learder in the Black Community who was very well respected and possessed the ability to cross racial lines. An outstanding, motivator and speaker. I will miss his presence, but never his passion for people, politics and the natural pride he had about Augusta. Mr. McIntyre often said, "there is only two kind of people in the world, those who live in Augusta, and those who wished they lived in Augusta." Mr. Ed McIntyre, not a monument,a movement. Respectfully,Oz Nesbitt,Sr.

Dear Mrs. McIntyre & Family,

I was a teenager living in Augusta Georgia when I first met Mr. McIntyre. His mother was an inspiration and he was also an inspiration to my life. He was a man with a dream and I believe he lived that dream out to the end. He will be missed and especially by you all. However, if we continue in our calling, we will see him again. May GOD comfort you and the entire family as you come to terms with this terrible loss.

Sincerely,

He is only away- in your thoughts and your heart you are always together, never part; in your sorrow,remember- he's only away.

Though he may not be with you,

the memories stay--- And in time, when the hurt is too much to bear,

when ever you look in your heart,

he'll be there.

WITH DEEPEST SYMPATHY,
