Fred Hutto Obituary

Railroad Retiree AIKEN, S.C. - Mr. Fred A. Hutto, 84, of Aiken, SC, beloved husband of sixty-four years to Florence Lowe Hutto and son of the late James Luther and Rosa Lee Williams Hutto died Monday, September 28th, 2009, at Veterans Administration Medical Center, Augusta, GA, with his family at his side. Born in Orangeburg, SC, he had been a resident of the CSRA, most of his life and for twenty years he had also lived in Atlanta, GA. A World War II Veteran, he proudly served his country in the United States Navy. For his service he was awarded a Silver Star for exceptional and meritorious service at Samar, Philippines. He retired after forty-two years of service as a Diesel Electrician with the Railroad. Mr. Hutto was a member of Chime Bell Baptist Church, the D.A.V., the American Legion and the International Brotherhood of Electrical Workers. He was a fan of both the GA Tech Yellow Jackets and the Atlanta Falcons and prior to his health declining, he enjoyed fishing and reading. Additional family members include his children, Linda Young, (Henderson) Jackson, SC, Steve Hutto, (Rosa) Conyers, GA and Karen Palmer, Hoschton, GA; brother, Tom Hutto, (Evelyn) Clearwater, SC; grandchildren, Terri Highfield, (Barry) Amy Jones, (Nathan) Stacie Hinesley, (Drew) Timothy Young, (Leslee) Matthew Young, (Stephanie) 2nd Lt. Scott Palmer and Brett Palmer (Jessica) and eight great-grandchildren. A Celebration of Life Service will be held Thursday, October 1st, 2009, at 2 o'clock at Chime Bell Baptist Church, Aiken, SC, with Pastor Gary Fleetwood officiating. Interment with veteran's honors accorded by the United States Navy Honor Guard will follow in the church cemetery. Pallbearers will be Timothy Young, Matthew Young, 2nd Lt. Scott Palmer, Brett Palmer, Julian Boyd and Chris Medlin. The family has asked that if so desired, memorials be made to Chime Bell Church Baptist Church, 1013 Chime Bell Church Rd., Aiken, SC 29803. The family will greet friends tonight from 6 until 8 o'clock at Hatcher Funeral Home & Cremation Service, U.S. Hwy. #1, Langley, SC. Sign the guestbook at AugustaChronicle.com
