George Kitchens Obituary

WARRENTON, Ga. - Mr. George Howard "Pete" Kitchens passed away at 2 PM April 26, 2005, at Warrenton Health and Rehab Center. The family will receive visitors in the church sanctuary from 10-11AM today. Funeral services will be held at 11 AM today, April 28, 2005, at First Baptist Church, Warrenton with Dr. Rob Bray officiating. Interment will follow at Warrenton City Cemetery. Mr. Kitchens was a lifelong citizen of Warrenton. He was retired from Georgia Pacific Company and prior to that, had a plumbing and electrical business in Warrenton for many years. After retirement he did extensive volunteer work at his beloved church. Mr. Kitchens was preceded in death by his brother, Carlton R. Kitchens, Sr., more than 35 years ago, and his sister Mable L. Kitchens nine months ago. He is survived by his sister-in-law, Alice G. Kitchens of Evans; two nephews, Dr. George Gray Kitchens of Montgomery, Ala., and C. Ralph Kitchens, Jr., of Augusta; two greatnephews and tw o great-nieces. Pallbearers will be Bobby Newsome, Willis Stanley, Jeff Rodgers, Hal Wheeler, William Wood and Larry Clarkson. Honorary pallbearers will be Mr. and Mrs. Kermit House, his guardians for over ten years, as well as other friends: Mr. and Mrs. Alton Johnson, Mr. and Mrs. Vernon Burkey, Mr. and Mrs. Dennis Coxwell, Mrs. Jo McElveen, Mr. and Mrs. Steve Giddens, Mr. and Mrs. Doug Callaway, Mr. Merrill Callaway, Sr., Mr. P.H. Giddens, Mr. George Norris, and Mr. and Mrs. Palmer Hadden. In lieu of flowers the family requests donations to First Baptist Church, P.O. Box 512, Warrenton GA, 30828, in his memory.
