Harry Smith Obituary

CLEARWATER, S.C. - Entered into rest on Tuesday, November 4, 2003, Mr. Harry Douglas Smith of Clearwater. Surviving are a sister, Lenora Smith Thompson, Augusta; five nieces and 11 nephews. Mr. Smith was a native of Aiken County. He was a member of Langley United Methodist Church and was a Navy veteran of WWII. He was retired from the federal government and was a senior administrative contracting officer for General Service Administration in Atlanta. He attended LBC High School and the University of South Carolina, Augusta College, Hurst Business College and was a graduate of Georgia State University in Atlanta. Mr. Smith worked at Ft. Gordon as a purchasing agent for the Dept. of the Army, the C&S National Bank in Augusta and the Columbia Records Division of CBS in New York. Mr. Smith lived in Atlanta for over 30 years where he was active in volunteer work. He worked part time for the Atlanta Opera Company, the Atlanta Symphony Orchestra and the Alliance Theater. Graveside funeral services will be Friday at 11 a.m. at Langley Cemetery with Rev. Frank Copeland officiating.
