Helen Nesbit Obituary

POULTNEY, Vt. - Helen Mahar Nesbit died December 18, 2007 at Rutland Regional Health Center. She was 96. She was a graduate of Troy Conference Academy (1928) and of the Albany Medical Center School of Nursing. On June 28, 1933, she married Dr. Robert Nesbit of New Haven, Conn., where the couple resided for many years. She returned to Poultney after her husband's death in 1970. Mrs. Nesbit was predeceased by two brothers and five sisters. Her surviving sister, Irene R. Mahar, resides in Venice, Fla. Mrs. Nesbit leaves a daughter, Nancy Brigham of Lexington, Mass. and a son, Dr. Robert Nesbit, Jr. and his wife, Mary Gail Nesbit, of Augusta, Ga. She is also survived by six grandchildren and ten great-grandchildren in whose lives she was actively and lovingly involved. They are Alison Brigham and Ron Kermisch and their son, Benjamin; Dr. Robert and Julia Nesbit and their son, Robert; Peter and Roblyn Brigham and their daughters, Katie and Jenny; Dr. Douglas and Amy Nesbit and their children, Alison, Daniel, and Elizabeth; John and Kate Brigham and their daughter, Lily; Scott and Liz Nesbit and their children, Owen and Maura. A graveside service will be held in Poultney in the spring. Donations in Mrs. Nesbit's memory may be made to the John and Katherine Mahar Scholarship Fund at Green Mountain College (Poultney) or to the Poultney Public Library, both on Main Street, Poultney, Vt. 05764. Arrangements are under the direction of the Roberts-Aubin Funeral Home in Poultney.
