Ivan W. "I.W." Pierce

JACKSON, S.C. - Entered into rest Tuesday, afternoon, February 13th, 2007 at his home, Mr. Ivan W. "I.W." Pierce, 80, beloved husband of fifty eight years to Mrs. Jonnie Lee Worley Pierce and son of the late John Walter and Nancy Mae Bradberry Pierce. Born in Boaz, AL, Mr. Pierce, came to Aiken County, SC, from Gadsden, AL in 1952. He retired from E.I. DuPont after thirty two years of service as a Chemical Operator and was a member of Faith Independent Baptist Church, Bath, SC. A World War II veteran, he proudly served his country in the United States Army and was awarded with the Asiatic-Pacific Campaign Ribbon, World War II Victory Ribbon, and the Good Conduct Medal. Prior to his health failing, Mr. Pierce enjoyed going fishing. In addition to his wife, he is survived by sons, Ivan Dennis Pierce, (Patsy) Beech Island, SC, Brian Orville Pierce and Perry Lee Pierce, (Sandra) both of Jackson, SC; sister, Imogene Harris, Attalla, AL; four grandchildren and five great-grandchildren. Funeral services will be held Friday, morning, February 16th, 2007 at 11 o'clock at Hatcher Funeral Home & Cremation Service, Langley, SC with Pastor Clifton Stancel and Pastor Carl Hayes officiating. Interment with military honors accorded by the United States Army Honor Guard will follow in Jackson Memorial Park, Jackson, SC. The family has asked that memorials be made to Faith Independent Baptist Church. The family will receive friends Thursday, evening, February 15th, 2007 from 6 until 8 o'clock at Hatcher Funeral Home & Cremation Service, U.S. Hwy. No. 1, Langley, SC.
