James Elam Obituary

PORTSMOUTH, Va. - Mr. James Elam, 69, of Portsmouth, VA; entered into rest Monday, September 13, 2009. Funeral service will be held Sunday, September 13, 2009 at 2:p.m. at Bethlehem Missionary Baptist Church, North Augusta, SC. Burial will be in the church cemetery. He was a native of Belvedere , SC.; served in the United States Navy and retired from Norfolk Naval Shipyard as a General Foreman Electrician. He was a member of Behlehem Baptist Church; served as Past Master of Brighton Rockk Lodge #79, Past Commander American Legion Post 190 and past Potentate of Arabia Temple #12 and a volunteer at Hampton VA Medical Center. Survivors are his wife, Sarah; daughter, Parnela (Delano); two sons, James II and Jeffrey; tow sisters, Roszelle Elam and Mattie Green (William) 4 brothers, Willie Elam (Josephine); Albert Elam (Cassandra) ; Herny Elam (Sarah); and Joseph Elam (Ethel); great aunt, Eloise Adderly; three aunts, Cornelia Felder, Julia Worthy, and Lucy Gibson; brother-in-law, Ernest Brighthop; sister-in-law, Mary Hall; other relatives and friends.
