Jerry Holmes Obituary
His memorial service will be held on Saturday, March 25, 2017 at 3:00 PM in the Rowland Funeral Home Chapel with Rev. Charles S. Buchanan officiating. Interment will be private.
A native of McRae, GA, Mr. Holmes was an avid golfer, Eagle Scout, VP of the Student Body at Telfair/Helena High School, President of the Statewide Royal Ambassadors of the Southern Baptist Convention of Georgia and VP of Kappa Sigma at Mercer University from 1951-1954. He retired from Westinghouse Savannah River Company after many years of service as a project manager. He was named Outstanding Practicing Engineer by the Institute of Industrial Engineers and received the George Westinghouse Signature Award at Savannah River Site.
Additional survivors include his son, Pace Holmes (Jessica) of Cary, NC; son-in-law, Stewart G. Anderson of Loudon, TN; a step daughter, Tracey Buchanan (Kelly) of North Augusta; four grandchildren, Matthew Kent (Kari), Melissa Kent Merrow (Jim) and Mary Alison Kent; three step-grandchildren, Brooke E. Buchanan, Ashley M. Buchanan, Rev. Charles S. Buchanan (Dr. Carrie); two great grandchildren, Olivia and Reyce and two step great grandchildren, Triston and Caroline. He was preceded in death by his daughter, Renee Holmes Anderson and his parents Jerome Hartwell and Agnes Griffin Holmes.
The family will receive friends at the funeral home following the memorial service.
