Joe Newsome Obituary

AUGUSTA, Ga. - Mr. Joe Newsome, presently residing in Lexington, SC, beloved husband of the late Ruth Warlick Newsome, entered into rest Wednesday, June 13, 2007 at Lexington Medical Center. Mr. Newsome retired as a Maintenance Supervisor with Boral Brick, he was a Charter Member of Lumpkin Road Baptist Church where he was past Deacon and Sunday School Superintendent. He served in the U.S. Army during WWII. Funeral services will be held at Lumpkin Road Baptist Church, Friday, June 15, 2007 at 4:00 p.m. with Reverend Brad Newsome, Mr. Bob Stady and Dr. Len Chavis officiating. His body will lie in state one hour prior to services. Burial will follow at Hillcrest Memorial Park. Pallbearers will be Don Maples, Dennis Brooks, Alvin Mixon, Ken Burkett, Rodgers Gentry, Ron Crouch, Bobby Walk and Monroe Click. Honorary pallbearers will be the Ambassadors Sunday School Class. Survivors include Joe A. (Cathie) Newsome, Elaine (Wayne) Brewer, Eddie (Shirlene) Newsome; seven grandchildren Shannon Rabun, Angie Lamp, Brad Newsome, Jerri McInturff, Sheilah White, Nicole Gay and Joseph Newsome; nine great-grandchildren, Justin, Lauren and Aaron Rabun, Emily and Erica Newsome, Ruthie and Eliza Lamp and Caroline and Grady McInturff. He is preceded in death by his daughter, Sheila Jean Newsome.
