We met Dr Williams in 1976 when our daughter was just 6 weeks old. We were two young parents terrified about our daughter´s medical condition and had it not been for his empathy, kindness and confidence that he knew what he was doing I´m not sure what would have happened. We were in the hospital off and on for about 4 years with some stints of up to a month at a time in the hospital. My wife would wake up some mornings in the room and he would be sitting in the chair doing all of his notes. He was always there for us and we can never forget him for all he did for our family. I know there are a lot of tremendous surgeons but to combine the compassion and kindness with his surgical skills made him one of a kind. We talk about him often. Rest in peace Dr Williams.

I met Dr. Williams in 1987 for a 2nd opinion about an injury I was going through as firefighter, in
South Carolina. I was in so much pain & going through a lot of stress and anxiety from my employer. It's because of Dr. Williams letter of recommendation that I retired early. His willingness to help me gave me a new opportunity in life later on, because I could no longer be a firefighter.
My condolences to his family. Rest in peace Dr. Williams. Stan

What a wonderful human being and physician. God-fearing and touched the lives of so many. I knew him in the 80's when I was nurse manager of 9W at University Hospital. I have thought of him many times during the years...and remember him fondly. May the family be at peace that he loved and was loved by all. Pam Cromer

He was the nicest person I ever worked for in Neurosurgical Associates. Everyone loved him from his staff to his patients. Hard to find doctors you can talk to on your level like him. He wasn't above anyone. He will be missed. I'm praying for his family.

Dr. John was the finest doctor that both my mother and I ever knew. My mother, Dorothy Jean Griffin, worked for Dr. John for 21 years. Her & my father are now in NHC in North Augusta, and she as well as myself is heartbroken, but we know that another angel has gone to Heaven. Please accept our most deepest sympathy for the loss of such a fine, remarkable man and know you will be in our daily prayers. May the Lord give you the strength that you will need to sustain you in the days ahead. God bless you and your family.

Dr. Williams was one of the BEST surgeons I ever had the privilege of scrubbing with and circulating for at UH. His kindness to his patients, my family and all those he worked with spilled over into his daily life. My condolences to the family. May he be blessed in Heaven.
