Juanita Ballew Obituary

GREENWOOD, S.C. - Juanita Bowen Ballew, 89, resident of 227 Sample Road, widow of H. Austin Ballew, died September 22, 2006 at Morningside of Greenwood. Born in Gastonia, NC, July 7, 1917, she was a daughter of the late J.T. and Rosa Gregory Bowen. She was retired from Abney Mills, Grendel Plant. A member of Laurel Baptist Church and the Ballew Sunday School Class of the church, she was also a former Sunday School teacher, member of the Mission Committee and the W.M.U. of the church. She was a long-time volunteer at Self Memorial Hospital and was active in the local prison ministry. Surviving are a daughter, Carol B. and husband Andy Seigler of Lincolnton, GA.; two sisters, Billie Flowers of Bessmer City, NC and Mabel Ratchford of Gastonia, NC; five grandchildren and twenty-one great-grandchildren. Funeral services will be conducted at 4 PM Sunday from the Blyth Funeral Home Chapel with Rev. Darrell Rooks and Rev. Scott Dublin officiating. Burial will bein Greenwood Memorial Gardens. Pallbearers will be Howard Jones, Nathan Jones, Jay Bass, Justin Douthett, Brad Jones, Steve Hamilton and Bernie Rush. Honorary escort will be members of the Ballew and the Men's Sunday School Class of Laurel Baptist Church along with Walter Bosse and L.D. "Shorty" Adams. The body is at the funeral home where the family will receive friends from 6 until 8 PM Saturday evening. Memorials may be made to Laurel Baptist Church, 330 Sample Road, Greenwood, SC 29649.
