AUGUSTA, Ga. - Katherine Wood Samuelson, 72, wife of Roy Samuelson, entered into rest Monday, March 17, 2014 at Doctor s Hospital. Funeral services will be held from the chapel of Chance & Hydrick Funeral Directors this Friday, March 21, 2014, at 1:00 PM, with the Reverend Tim Pendrey officiating. Interment will follow in Hillcrest Memorial Park. Mrs. Samuelson, the daughter of the late Oscar Lee Wood and Kate Lois Dangler, was a native of Spartanburg, SC, and had made Augusta her home since 1971. She was the past President of the NCO Wives Club in Germany and had been a member of the VFW 649 Ladies Auxiliary and the German-American Club. She had retired as a Medical Secretary from Civil Service at Fort Gordon and was of the Baptist Faith. She was a loving wife, mother, grandmother and great grandmother. Mrs. Samuelson was preceded in death by her children, Rhonda K. Meyer and Rusty Nichols; her mother and step-father, Kate Lois and Pete Dangler; and her brother, Eddie Dangler. In addition to her husband she is survived by her son and daughter-in-law, Mike and Laura Nichols of North Augusta, daughter and son-in-law, Debbie and Buddy Horton of Hephzibah; sisters and brothers-in-law, Lois and Danny Hebblethwaite of Appling and Diane and Tom Prince of Modoc, SC; brothers and sisters-in-law, Ricky and Vickie Ray and Eddie and Sandra Ray all of Augusta; nine grandchildren; as well as ten great grandchildren.
