Lonnie Barton Obituary

GRANITEVILLE, S.C. - Entered into rest Tuesday, February 21, 2006, Mr. Lonnie Edward Barton, age 83, of Graniteville, beloved husband of Mrs. Christine Green Barton and son of the late Elwood Barton and the late Maggie Widener Barton Beard. In addition to his wife, he is survived by daughters, Brenda Taylor and her husband, Joe Taylor of Graniteville, Sandra Rayner of Elon, N.C. and Phyllis Friar of Warrenville; a sister, Thelma Sims and her husband, Arthur Sims of Warrenville; six grandchildren, Kelley Martin, Keith Taylor, Kim Cheeks, Melody Lindsey, Christi Friar and Dony Gibbs and seven great-grandchildren. He was preceded in death by two brothers, Marvin and Wilton Barton. He retired from Cleveland Electric Company as a Quality Concerns Manager. He was a chartered member of IBEW Local Union 1579 in Augusta. He was a US Navy Veteran having served his country during World War II. He was of the Holiness faith. The funeral service will be conductedSaturday, February 25, 2006 at 2:00 p.m. in the Chapel of Napier Funeral Home with Rev. Jonathan Randall, Rev. Judy Randall and Rev. George Holcombe officiating. The entombment will follow in Sunset Memory Gardens in Langley, S.C. The pallbearers will be grandsons, Keith Taylor and Dony Gibbs and nephews: Richard Barton, Rusty Barton, Keith Barton, Wilton Barton and Randy Barton. The honorary pallbearers will be members of the IBEW Local Union 1579. The family will receive friends at the residence or Friday night, February 24th from 6 to 8 p.m. at the funeral home. Memorials may be made to Regency Hospice, 105 Summerwood Way, Suite D, Aiken, S.C. 29801. Napier Funeral Home, 315 Main Street, Graniteville, S.C. 29829 is in charge of the funeral arrangements.
