Michael Webster Obituary
ROME, Ga. - Dr. Michael D. Webster, 55, of 319 E. 4th Ave., Rome, died at a local hospital Sunday morning, October 2, 2005. Dr. Webster was born October 17, 1949 in Dekalb Co., Ga., the son of Dr. Arnold James "A.J." Webster and Lorena D. Webster of Rome. Dr. Webster graduated from the Darlington School, the University of Georgia, and was a graduate of the Medical College of Georgia in Augusta with a degree in dentistry. He was a member of the N.W. District Dental Society, the Georgia Dental Association, and the American Dental Association. He served for two years as a lieutenant in the Navy in Washington, D.C. as clinic director of the Bethesda Dental Clinic in Bethesda, Md. and served as a staff Physician at Redmond Regional Medical Center and Floyd Medical Center in Rome, Ga. He served on the Economic Development committee of the Chamber of Commerce for downtown Rome, was a member of the Exchange Club, the Men's 9:00 Cotillion, and the Rome Power Squadron Boating Organization for which he served as commander. He was a member of the First United Methodist Church of Rome for many years. He loved boating, photography, travel and loved his profession. Survivors include one son, Michael Donovan Webster, Jr. of Rome; one daughter, Leslie Anne Webster of Charlotte, N.C.; two sisters, Jill Burton and her husband, Richard, of Rome, Jacki Wiggins and her husband, Larry, of Augusta; an uncle, Jack Reed of Georgetown, Ky.; and a dear friend and close companion, Judy Howard of Rome; a number of nieces and nephews also survive. Memorial services for Dr. Webster will be held Wednesday at 2:30 p.m. at the First United Methodist Church with the Rev. Jane Brooks officiating. A private interment will follow in Sunset Hill Memory Gardens. The family will receive friends Tuesday evening from 5 until 7:00 p.m. at Daniel's Funeral Home.
