Norris Tucker Obituary

SAVANNAH, Ga. - Norris C. Tucker, Sr., 89, died Wednesday, February 28, 2007 at his residence in Windsor Forest, under the care of Hospice Savannah, Inc. Mr. Tucker, the son of Willie and Annie Tucker, was born in Rankin County, Mississippi. He served 22 years in the U.S. Air Force and was a veteran of both World War II and The Korean Conflict. He was among the first Chief Master Sergeants in the Air Force. After retiring from the Air Force in 1962, he moved to Savannah and was a Federal employee for 18 years. He was an active member of the Windsor Forest Baptist Church since 1963, serving as a deacon for many years. Mr. Tucker is survived by his wife of 61 years, Pauline Tucker; a daughter and son-in-law, Marilyn Tucker and Michael Marburger of Savannah; a son and daughter-in-law, Clyde and Debra Tucker of Vienna, VA; a granddaughter, Kathleen Carter Tucker, also of Vienna; a grandson, Christopher Marburger, his wife Stasia and a great-granddaughter, Alyssa, all of Savannah; three sisters, Lmeree Farlow and Annie Lou Knight, both of Jackson, MS and Mary Sue Smith of Oklahoma City, OK; and several nieces and nephews. Active pallbearers include Gil Buckner, Vernon Elliott, Ralph Finnegan, Shane Finnegan, John Grieco and John Scarborough. Members of the Beverly Sunday School Class of Windsor Forest Baptist Church will serve as honorary pallbearers. Visitation will be held 7:00 - 9:00 P.M. on Friday, March 2nd at Hubert C. Baker Funeral Home on Hodgson Memorial Drive. Funeral Services will take place at Windsor Forest Baptist Church on Saturday, March 3rd at 1:00 P.M. with Dr. James Staubes and Rev. Rick West officiating. Interment will follow at Forest Lawn Memory Gardens.
