Evans, GA—Philip (Phil) Laws Howard, born in September of 1953, left this world to enjoy everlasting life with his God and Savior on Wednesday, January 6, 2021.
Phil was born in Salisbury, Maryland and grew up on the eastern shore. Phil attended the University of Maryland, College Park, graduating with a Bachelor's degree in Radio, Television and Film. After college, Phil worked with Kroll Construction, Inc. He perfected many trades, even restoring an historic row home in Baltimore in the 1980's. A humble man, few people knew that Phil received his Master's of Science in Business Administration from Johns Hopkins University, Homewood campus. Phil worked in facilities management for many years, retiring as Vice President of Facilities Services for AU Health.
Phil had many varied interests. He loved to welcome family and friends to his home. All delighted in his exemplary culinary skills. His Thanksgiving dinners and Christmas morning eggs benedict were legendary. An avid golfer, Phil enjoyed playing golf with his sons as often as he could. Many will remember Phil as a natty dresser who always wore the most on trend, festive bow tie for any occasion! Phil was truly a loving and devoted husband, father, and son who will be missed by all who have had the good fortune of knowing him.
Family members include his wife, Catherine Boyd Howard; sons, William Howard, Robert Howard, Jack Crawford, Benjamin Howard; mother: Mary Belle White, and niece: Sara Hutchison. He was preceded in death by his father, Wilson Howard and sister, Teresa Hutchison.
A private memorial Mass will be held at Phil's home parish, Saint Teresa of Avila Catholic Church.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the American Cancer Society, 901 Greene St., Augusta, GA 30901.
