Last night passed Rusty’s childhood neighborhood at Snee Farm in Mt Pleasant on the way to my child’s last HS sports event with my bro-in-law. This neighborhood is still tops in swimming as was in the early days when the wonderful world Rusty’s parents offered as it influenced his passions in life.
We went on the Witch Doctor a time or two and shared good times with his back surgeon chums Diesel and UGA. While I remind myself to appreciate moments, I couldn’t imagine the grief Rusty’s family experienced then. Thank you Russell for unique treasured moments! You’re were one of the good ones.

I was deeply sadden to hear the passing of such a great man & doctor..(My Doctor) Dr. D. was in a class of his own!He always made you feel like you were his only patient,and always a kind an thoughtful words or even a joke! He spoke about his family often, with a smile on his face.. I say this with a careing and heavy heart, I will miss you Dr. Davidson, when I woke up from my coma your face is the one I still remember seeing! Thanks to his family for sharing him to so many.

I wish to extend my deepest sympathy to you all. I was a neighbor at Fairway Pl Mt Pleasant,SC. I had the pleasure of watching Rusty teach Victor how to fish and drink a few "beer" in the driveway. They sat for hours on Rusty's boat. I used to say Rusty is almost too perfect.

You and I just met a few weeks ago in your husbands office, this was also the first time I had met him. I've seen alot of doctors of all types and I must say HE was ONE of the VERY BEST. You both were so cute and funny together that few minutes that I saw you together.

To The Davidson Family
Dr. Davidson performed back surgery on my husband on April 27, he had an appointment at his office today to remove his staples. I was in total shock when I called and was told that he had passed away. I only spoke with him a few times while my husband was in the hospital, but I knew from those short visits that he was a great guy. My husband really liked him and so did I. May God continue to bless you and give you peace at this difficult time. I'm sure he will be truly missed by many.

Our thoughts and prayers are with you and the girls. Paul had the priveledge of serving on several committees at Eisenhower with Rusty. He was honored to attend the funeral of such a dedicated soldier and physician.
I have been honored to know you, Leigh Ann and have so many wonderful memories of our times together on the First Baptist Church choir tours and mission trips when we were teenagers.
God has helped me remember some of those wonderful lyrics of the songs we sang back then to share with you. .. And in all your weakness HE IS SO STRONG.. he gives us STRENGTH to carry on...More power to you when your standing on his word when your trusting with your whole heart in the message you have heard...

My husband worked with Rusty at Eisenhower. He spoke very highly of him professionally and personally. When I needed a cervical fusion in September, Rusty performed my surgery. I recovered quickly, because of the great care I received. He will be truly missed by all his patients', colleagues, friends and family. May God comfort you and you're family through these difficult times.

rusty loved you and the girls more than fishing. life sucks and we never know why. you guys took care of me as a mobilized reservist in 2005, because you are both outstanding human beings.You are a strong, intelligent, talented and compasionate woman. you will raise the girls well, you will have a fruitful and rewarding life. Give your self permisssion to forgive yourself and others, then move on. Do this all in your time frame. I respected rusty in many ways, he called me " that annoying older sister", which I chose to take as a sign of affection. I had the honor and pleasure of working with Dr. Davidson on numerous occasions in the OR at EAMC. He was an absolutely gifted surgeon and wonderful human being. I feel honored to have known him and been able to work with him. His kindness and professionalism always made working with him such a pleasure. I went to Porter Gaud with Rusty and we played many a basketball games together. Many fond memories, it's no surpise to me of his accomplishments and service to our country. Rusty was the epitome of a Southern Gentleman, military officer, surgeon, and friend. I will miss him very much. He was always a great pleasure to work with from residency on. I consider it a great honor and privilege to have worked with him in the OR not only as a nurse, but also as a friend, for many years. OR #1 at DDEAMC will never the same. I hope he has found his peace. The world has lost a great man.

I am so very sorry to learn of Rusty's death this past week. I had the pleasure of serving as his attending in the ICU while he was an intern, and he was always one of my favorite colleagues in the ensuing years. Rusty was a major part of my life during high school and since learning of this tragic news of his passing I have continued to grieve our loss. As a massage therapist, I tend to see and feel the world differently, maybe intensely, and Rusty always noticed and could appreciate that. Today as I prayed throughout my daily run, I asked God for a sign to show me he was truly at peace. When I opened my eyes, a giant bird of prey spread his wings, looked down at me and flew over our house. This may sound strange to some but I felt his presence and now I know he is where he needs to be. We will not understand the 'whys' until we too shall pass but know that with time, faith and love, He does heal us. My heart is with the family he created, to those of us that were blessed enough to share our lives with this wonderful man and to all those he truly loved.

I graduated from Porter-Gaud High School with Rusty and have served in the Marine Corps while he served in the Army. I know that serving your country can be very challenging for both the serviceman and their family. I am proud to have known Rusty, an American patriot. I am currently stationed in San Diego, CA, and my prayers go out to Rusty's wife, Leighanne, his daughters, Margaret and Audrey, as well as his extended families in and out of the military. Dr. Davidson was an intelligent, considerate, and an incredibly genuine man ~ the sort of doctor you wish you had for every need, the kind of person you wish we all could emulate. I was a patient of Dr. Davidson at Eisenhower. I attribute the road to recovery that I have been on to Dr. Davidson, and I am forever indebted to him for his generosity. After years of suffering pain, Dr. Davidson was the first person who took time out on his own to look at my case, referring me to some of “his best” doctors for treatment.

We do not see God's perfect plan. As His children, we must believe in Him, trust in Him and take comfort from Him. Our human ways and emotions are nothing compared to Him and His perfect love. It seems that we are tested and asked to endure a lot, some much more than others. But, all that know you Leigh Ann and the Meybohms and Davidsons, feel your pain and reach out to you with prayers of love and comfort and not just now, but for a long time.
Always keep that in your mind, those of you who have endured the worse human loss. The prayers will touch your spirit and God will heal you, just as He is healing Rusty now, bringing him into His perfect Light.
We pray that you open yourselves to God's perfect love and come to find faith, peace, solace and healing from all of this. Rusty and all of you shall remain in our prayers.

I will truly miss Rusty Davidson. He was such a huge support system for me in the OR at DDEAMC. I will never forget his smiling face and kindness. God bless you Leighanne and girls
