Shirley Hagins Obituary

AUGUSTA, Ga. - Entered into rest Wednesday, November 25, 2015, Mrs. Shirley Ann Grimes Hagins, 74, loving wife of 54 years to Mr. Bill Hagins. Mrs. Hagins grew up in Twin City, GA. She graduated from Georgia Southern College with a Master's Degree in Special Education while battling Polio from the age of four. Mrs. Hagins retired from Gracewood State School and Hospital in 1978. She was a longtime member of Twin City United Methodist Church and Martinez United Methodist Church. Mrs. Hagins was a loving wife, mother and grandmother. Family members in addition to her husband include son: Keith Hagins and wife Dawne; grandchildren: Jordan Hagins and Katie Hagins; and sister-in-law: Cheryl Grimes. Mrs. Hagins is preceded in death by her parents: J. Carl and Ednar Louise Grimes and her brother: Dr. Carl R. "Ronnie" Grimes. Funeral services will be held Saturday, November 28, 2015 at 11:00 A.M. in the Chapel at Thomas Poteet & Son with Rev. Kendra Grimes and Rev. Gary McWhorter officiating. Burial will follow at Twin City Cemetery at 3:00 p.m. The family will receive friends Friday evening from 6:00 until 8:00 P.M. at Thomas Poteet & Son Funeral Directors, 214 Davis Rd., Augusta, GA 30907 (706) 364-8484.
