We were saddened to hear of Ed Bailey's death two weeks ago. His passing, as did Georgia's, made me think of those happy years in the past, when the Bailey and Battey families had many close ties in working together at at St. Mary's and playing together, too. I'm glad that some of you are still close at hand and still good friends. Ed was a fine gentleman, very much respected, admired and enjoyed. The funeral was especially appropriate, and I loved hearing the talks of Georgia and Bernard. Bill joins me now in sending our love and sympathy to you all.

Dear Bailey Family,
My heart was heavy when I read of Dr. Bailey's passing. He was our family's pediatrician through two generations of children. My daughter continued to see him until he retired. She was 18 years old at the time and told me she was always the only person sitting in the "kiddie chairs" with a boyfriend! He was a wonderful friend to my parents and a kind, gentle, and patient physician to so many of my family members. May your hearts be filled with wonderful memories of joyful times together as you celebrate a life well-lived. It was an honor and a pleasure to have known him.
Sincerely,
Ann

Dr. Bailey was my doctor along with my two sisters. I loved going to his office on Druid Park...he was so kind to us. He always took the time to talk with Mom and catch up on her news.I feel privileged to have known him and if my mother was alive she would say the same. Our thoughts and prayers to the family.

It must have been wonderful to have him for a father and friend. I know you will miss him. I wonder if I was the only little girl he and Miss Sheehan had to pull out from under the examination table after he went out in the hall to get the "shot?" Jayne Scott Toole

Dr. Bailey was my pediatrician in the 70's & 80's. He called me his "little football player" even though I am female! He liked making me laugh because he knew how nervous and terrified I was of the immunization shots! I am so sorry to hear of his loss. His printed picture is how I remember him! All the best to his family because he was the best!

Dr. Bailey was my pediatrician in the 1950s and 60s, as well as that of my siblings. I was afraid when I had to go to his Druid Street doctor's office, but I loved the nursery rhyme picture in his waiting room. He was a very quiet and efficient man. As I got older, I made it my goal to make him laugh on one of my visits. I succeeded and remember it fondly today! He was the "Go To Doctor" and everyone in our neighborhood respected him and thought he was the best. May he rest in peace.

January 7, 2010

Very sorry to hear of Dr. Baily's death. He was my pediatrician when I was a child. He even came to the house when I was ill to treat me. Imagine that:) Blessings to the family! Rev, Thomas E. Mason, Jr.

I had the honor and pleasure of knowing Dr. Bailey, or as I used to cal him "Doc" while I was stationed in Augusta. I knew Doc from the Knights of Columbus and the AOH. I remember when we went for our Master Degree in the AOH, Doc had the honor of being the oldest member to get the degree. I used to like to hear him sing "Danny Boy" at the AOH meetings (Something that he would do sometimes). I know that God has a special place in Heaven for such a good man, he was a living Saint. I extend my deepest sympathies to Dr. Bailey's family. May God bless him and keep him.

January 6, 2010

Oh the memories of Dr. Bailey and nurse Jeannette. My parents had 5 children for Dr. Bailey to care for and were we a hand full. A SHOT! NO NOT A SHOT! One of my brothers had pneumonia and Dr. Bailey came to our house and sat by my brothers bed until the next day. My parents thought he was the best ever.I of course had children who also went to Dr. Bailey. He had the coolest map in there that you could look at forever and see so many different things. I also had a brother that would have great laughs with him at the Gulf station on Central Avenue. What memories of a great doctor. He will be missed but memories of him will not be forgotten.

I am so sorry for the loss of this great man. We have lost a doctor of compassion and caring that I have never seen in anyone else. He was my children's pediatrician until they all reached the age of 18. In fact, I will never forget the day he gave my son his final examination. It was a physical for Augusta College and they were both very emotional, as well as myself. He was always there for us, day or night and never minded trying the old remedies instead of spending money on medicine that may not work. May god bless his family and they will be in my thoughts and prayers.

I have so many memories of going to Dr. Bailey's Office. I so dreaded the prick of the finger and the shots but, looking back now, he always seemed to handle the situation (my loud screaming and squirming) quite well. He was a great doctor and a wonderful person. My thoughs and prayers are with all the family.

May the GRACE OF OUR LORD AND SAVIOUR JESUS CHRIST comfort the Bailey family during their/our Loss. My Mother,Sara, worked as an R.N. for Dr. Bailey, many years ago, and thought the world of him. Dr. Bailey's pediatric expertise has gotten my brother and myself into our senior-citizen years.
MAY GOD BLESS YOU ALL.

We are so sorry for your loss. My brother & I were patients in the 50s so it was no question he would be my children's pediatrician and then my grandchildren's. He was the kindest & easiest man to talk to. He still remembered me when I would run into him in public. He will be missed.

Dr. Bailey was our family pediatrician. I took my son to him when he was born and nothing had changed in his office in all those years. He still had his gentle, kind mannerism and he was a pediatrician you could genuinely trust. God Bless you Dr. Bailey and my condolences to his family in their time of grief.

I and my siblings were patients of Dr. Bailey back in the 1950s and 1960s. He was the epitome of what a pediatrician should be, and I've often thought fondly of him (and Nurse Sheehan, too) over the years. They don't make 'em like that anymore! My condolences to the family. May God give you comfort in your loss.
