Tommy Moxley Obituary

AUGUSTA, Ga. - Mr. Tommy Rowland Moxley, 71, beloved husband of 39 years of Gail Moxley, entered into rest on Wednesday, December 5, 2012. Funeral services will be held on Saturday, December 8, 2012 at 2:00 PM at Platt's Belair Road Chapel with the Rev. Marty Baker officiating. Burial will follow at Westover Memorial Park. Mr. Moxley was a veteran of the United States Navy, having served aboard the USS Dahlgren during the Cuban Missile Crisis. He was founder, owner and president of Appliance Land. He was past president of the Columbia County Merchant's Association, and past president of the South Atlantic region for Brand Source, as well as being dealer of the year in 2008. He was an avid golfer and a Mason. In addition to his wife, Gail, he is survived by his mother, Frances Irby, his sons, Tommy Moxley, Jr., Chris Moxley and Dan Moxley, a brother, Mike Moxley (Jane), a sister, Janie Moxley, and a grandchild, Lance Moxley. He was preceded in death by his father, the late Ralph Moxley. Pallbearers will be Ray Hall, Johnny Jenkins, Ronnie Varner and Justin Pittman. Honorary pallbearers will be employees of Appliance Land. If so desired, memorials may be made to the Alzheimer's Association, 1899 Central Avenue, Augusta, Georgia, 30904. The family will receive friends at the funeral home on Friday evening, December 7, 2012 from 6:00 until 8:00 PM. Please sign the guestbook and send condolences at www.plattsfuneralhome.com. To Tommy's family: I am so sorry I didn't know about Tommy's passing in Dec until it was mentioned on Ch 12 News today regarding ApplianceLand. What a great guy he was! Ken and I used to do business with him years ago when he was recommended to us by his sister-in-law, Jane Moxley. R.I.P. Tommy as I'm sure you will be greatly missed by all who knew you. Your picture here is exactly the way I remember you. Always smiling!!
