Velver Joiner Obituary

GIRARD, Ga. - Mrs. Velver Wasden Joiner, age 98, formerly of West 10th Street, Louisville, died Wednesday, March 10, 2010, at her residence. Graveside services will be held 3:00 PM Sunday, March 14, 2010, in the Louisville City Cemetery with Rev. Hardy Owens officiating. Pallbearers will be Randy Wall, Shane Godbee, Danny Godbee, Brad Metts, Ernie Ferron and Frank Ethridge. Honorary pallbearers will be Avery Ferron, Johnathan Rosier, and Gavin Ward. A native of Louisville, Mrs. Joiner was a daughter of the late Phillip E. and Lizzie Scarborough Wasden. For many years she and her husband, Milo, owned the Joiner Bait & Tackle in Louisville. She was a member of Louisville First Baptist Church, the Louisville Homemakers club, and the Order of the Eastern Star. She was preceded in death by her parents, her husband William Milo Joiner; a son, William Joiner, Jr.; four siblings, Ada Pope, Walter Wasden, Lewis Wasden, and Hubert Wasden; a son-in-law, Willie Clyde Dixon; a grandson, Tim Wall, and is survived by children, Jacquelyn Joiner Dixon of Girard, Dorothy J. Fischer of Huntsville, Alabama, and Dr. Wayne Joiner of Orlando, Florida; one sister, Mayme Lee Quin of Girard; thirteen grandchildren, 25 great-grandchildren, eight great-great-grandchildren, several nieces, nephews, and cousins.
