Virginia Brown Obituary

MARTINEZ, Ga. - Entered into rest on Saturday, August 30, 2003, Mrs. Virginia P. Brown, Martinez, widow of the late Virgil Brown. Surviving are her children, Beth Saunders and her husband Larry, of Social Circle, Jane Roberson and her husband Glen, Evans, and a son, Brian Brown of Social Circle; one brother and five sisters; three grandchildren, Leighann Page, Logansville, Jenna and Matthew Roberson, Evans, and three great- grandchildren. Funeral services will be held Tuesday, September 2, 2003 at 2 p.m. from the Chapel of Thomas Poteet & Son with Rev. Steve Spencer officiating. Interment to follow in Bellevue Memorial Gardens. Pallbearers will be Randall Brown, Lyndal Cartledge, Charles Crews, Allen Partridge, Derek Partridge and Charles Tippin. Honorary pallbearers will be Deacons of First Baptist Church of Evans. Mrs. Brown was a lifelong resident of Columbia County. She was primarily a homemaker, but will always be remembered as a beloved mother and grandmother. She was also very proud to have been a substitute teacher for the Columbia County School System for about ten years. Mrs. Brown was a member and a faithful servant of First Baptist Church of Evans for many years. If so desired, memorial contributions may be made to the American Lung Association of GA 2050 Walton Way, Augusta, GA 30904 or to the First Baptist Church of Evans Music or Flower Fund Washington at Belair Rd., Evans, GA 30809. The family will receive friends at the Funeral Home Monday evening from 6 to 8 p.m. or may call at the residence of Jane and Glen Roberson. I just found out about your mom today when I got your email. I am so sorry for your loss - she was a feisty Southern lady who gave her wonderful character to another feisty Southern lady. I know you all will miss her. I'll be in touch. Carol
