Wendell Ussery Obituary
Family members include his beloved wife of 60 years, Beverly Gaither Ussery; daughter: Julie Ussery Warren (Jerry); son: Dr. Todd Wendell Ussery (Christine); eight grandchildren: Sarah Delotelle, Bethany Shaw, Melody Ussery, Jessica Warren, Rebekah Quinley, Courtney Fillekes. Debbie Ussery and Stephen Ussery; three great-grandchildren: Lilias Shaw, Levi Delotelle, Jeshua Shaw and a fourth to be born soon.
Wendell was a longtime member of Trinity on the Hill United Methodist Church where he served as a Team Leader Usher for many years and a member of the Adult Couples Sunday School Group. He was a member of the Men's Breakfast Club of retired members of Trinity on the Hill, a volunteer with Interfaith Hospitality Network, Golden Harvest Food Bank and the Men's Soup Kitchen. He studied with the BDF Bible class at Warren Baptist Church for 10 years. Wendell was also very active in the Rotary Club and was honored to receive "Rotarian of the Year" in 2004.
He was a USAF Hospital Administrator and retired as a Colonel the US Air Force where he served in Hospital Administration at many Air Force Bases including Alaska, Taiwan, Mississippi, Florida, Illinois and Washington, D.C.
After retirement from the military, Wendell and Beverly moved to Augusta, GA. He served as Associate Administrator of MCG Hospital and Clinics for 4 years before deciding to return to his love of Pharmacy. He worked for CVS Pharmacy and the VA Hospital until he retired.
The funeral service will be Monday, May 22, 2017, 11:00 A.M. at Trinity on the Hill United Methodist Church with Dr. Mike Cash officiating. Interment with full Air Force Honors will follow at Westover Memorial Park.
Memorial contributions may be made to Trinity on the Hill United Methodist Church, Masters Table, 1330 Monte Sano Ave, Augusta, GA 30904.

Mr. Ussery was my boss at MCG for 3-4 years. He was a brilliant and wonderful man and boss. He was one of my favorite bosses and I held him in the highest regard. I think of him fairly often and am so fortunate to have known him. God love you.
