Alfred Steininger Obituary

Steininger, Alfred 81, of Batavia, passed away January 24, 2012 at Provena Pine View Care Center in St. Charles. He was born July 5, 1930 in Munich, Germany, the son of Karl and Franziska (nee Lechner) Steininger. He was united in marriage to Martha Wachinger on August 8, 1953 in Hinckley, IL. He proudly served his country in the U.S. Army in Korea from 1954-1955. He worked as a licensed commercial plumber for over forty years. He enjoyed fishing, photography, and especially spending time with his grandchildren. He is survived by his wife of 58 years, Martha; children, Fred (Beverly) Steininger of Batavia, Susan (Robert) Nielsen of Aurora, and Herb (Anne) Steininger of Bartlett; nine grandchildren, Michael and Sarah Steininger, Bryan, Derek, Kyle, and Kathryn Nielsen, and Katie, Timothy, and Rebecca Steininger; and a sister, Frieda Fischl of Munich, Germany. In addition to his parents, he is preceded in death by a brother, Rudolf Steininger. Visitation will be held from 2-4 P.M. on Saturday, January 28, 2012 at the Moss Family Funeral Home, 209 S. Batavia Ave., Batavia, IL. A funeral service will immediately follow the visitation at 4 P.M. at the funeral home. Interment will be held private at a later date. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be directed to Provena Hospice, 799 S. McLean Blvd, Suite 101, Elgin, IL 60123 or American Diabetes Association, 30 N. Michigan Ave, Suite 2012, Chicago, IL 60602.
