Amy Ruthford Obituary

The Great I am God!

Born September 12, 1919 in Will County (Bolingbrook), Daughter to the late George W. and Amy S. Gibbons. Amy married Alister Rutherford on July 14, 1956, and spent 33 happy years together traveling out west and Wisconsin. She was a Member of the Fourth Street United Methodist Church, Member of the Lydia Circle, and a Long-time employee of Dynacolor 3M Company, where she processed film.

Amy loved working crafts, crocheting, volunteering and spending time with friends. The Wacky Widows was a special group of friends with such great memories. In her earlier life, she was one of many working at the Joliet arsenal during World War II.

Preceded in death by her parents; husband, Alister G. Rutherford and brothers, Frank and George Gibbons.

Survived by her sister, Violetta M. Haglund; sister-in-law, Lorraine Gibbons as well as numerous nieces and nephews including Gale and Sandy Dunlap of Boulder, Colorado and John and Wendy King of Scotland, and a host of nieces and nephews, great and great-great!

At 101, Amy lived her life to its fullest. She said she never felt old. Amy reached out to her family, her closest nieces and nephews and closest friends to just talk to or to ask for occasional help. She loved her conversations with all. Thank you to all for making her life a very special one. To all her caregivers, nurses, social workers, aids and to Hospice care, thank you so much for all you did to make her comfortable. She was quite a lady and will be missed.
