Bruce Johnson Obituary

Johnson, Bruce Douglas Age 47, of Springfield, formery of Newark, IL, passed away on Friday, June 17, 2011 at St. John's Hospital. Bruce was born on January 20, 1964 in Sandwich, IL the son of Orville L. and Carol J. Anderson Johnson. He married Christina "Tina" White on September 2, 2006 in Springfield. Mr. Johnson had attended Lincoln Land Community College for aviation. He was part owner of Maids R Us Inc. He was a member of the Elks Club and enjoyed hunting and golf. He was a big Cubs fan and a NASCAR fan. He was preceded in death by his father and grandparents, Forrest and Ruby Anderson and Emil and Violet Johnson. He is survived by his wife, Tina; daughter, Whitney Wilson of Springfield; mother, Carol J. Johnson of Newark, IL; sister, Connie (Darrell) Ropp of Minonk, IL; one niece, Nicole Ropp; two nephews, Neil (Jessica) Ropp, and Nathan Ropp; and several aunts, uncles and cousins. Visitation will be from 4-7:00 p.m. on Tuesday, June 21, 2011 at Rochester Christian Church, 325 S. Walnut, Rochester, IL. Additional visitation will be from 10:00 a.m. until the time of service at 11:00 a.m. on Wednesday, June 22, 2011 at Rochester Christian Church with Reverend David Upchurch officiating. Burial will follow at Rochester Cemetery. Memorial contributions may be made to the Whitney Wilson College Fund c/o Wilson Park Funeral Home, 200 E. Main St., Rochester, IL 62563. Bruce will always be remembered by so many of us who attended Newark High School not only as an outstanding athlete and musician, but for his sense of humor. It is a special person who can leave a legacy of kindness, laughter, and friends.
