Uncle Dean was an exceptional uncle to me. When I was a kid, he would let me watch him box in the basement at Grandma & Grandpa' house where he would hit the punching bag and the small ball. Then he would pick me up and let me hit the punching ball a few times too. He would sing to me and tell me stories, some of them about when he and my Mom were kids. Over the past couple of years I would call him every month, and we both looked forward to those calls. I always ended by saying, "I love you Uncle Dean, and he would say, "Love you, too, Babe". I've missed calling him since he was at Willow Crest but I hope he knew he was still in my thoughts and prayers. Uncle Dean was strong and strong-willed, some would say stubborn, like my Mom, his younger sister, Norma. They were only 2 years apart, and fought like cats and dogs when they were younger, but if anyone else would pick on Norma, big brother Dean would come to the rescue. That relationship continued on into adulthood, the fun-loving bickering, neither one would ever admit they were wrong, but they loved each other too. Uncle Dean came to Mom's memorial service in 2009 and gave a touching eulogy, including a prayer-poem he had written for her. Now they are together in Heaven with their Savior, Jesus Christ, and with other family members who have gone on before waiting to be reunited. Uncle Dean, you will be greatly missed. I love you. Your niece, Linda Susie
