She was preceded in death by her parents, her husband Walt, her sister Virginia Barnett, her brother-in-law Bruce Barnett, her sister-in-law Marilyn Crowl, and her granddaughter Christina Hansen.

Doris frequently talked about her happy childhood in Council Bluffs, including the pranks her brothers would play on her. She received her Bachelor's degree from Grinnell College in IA, excelling in academics and extracurricular activities. She obtained her Master's degree in speech pathology at the University of Nebraska. Doris and Walt married in 1949, and shortly thereafter moved to Baltimore, MD. She taught school for two years, managing classrooms of 55 children as a new teacher. Doris stopped working to raise her three children. She practiced as a speech therapist later in her life. The family next moved to Tenafly, NJ, and finally Aurora. Doris was always especially dedicated to her family and church. She was a tireless volunteer, holding leadership positions in several organizations. She helped numerous people during her lifetime through her volunteer activities. She cared deeply about her many friends and was always there for them. Doris will be missed by all who knew her.

I am deeply saddened to learn of Doris' passing. I sold paintings home to home in the past and she was always one of my most enthusiast customers to purchase and host home showings for me. She was truly a wonderful lady! God gained a beautiful soul. My deepest sympathy to her family. Most Fondly, Maj
