Helen Bailey

1940 - 2016

With grateful hearts, we celebrate the life of Helen H. Bailey, 76, of Sugar Grove, who died peacefully on Tuesday March 8, 2016 at Greenfields of Geneva. She was born January 23, 1940 in Chicago, the daughter of the late Charles and Pauline (Shelkey) Shoemaker. In addition to her lifelong work as a homemaker, Helen was employed for many years at Orthopedic Associates of DuPage. Her humor, energy, love for life, fashion and beauty blessed all who knew her. She had a unique way of making everyone around her feel valued. Throughout her 20 year struggle with MS, she showed great resolve and determination to continue loving and living life to the fullest extent possible. As a generous woman of faith, she had a deep and abiding love for Jesus and was a member of Christ Community Church in St Charles. She will be remembered as a loving wife, mother, grandmother, and friend. Helen is survived by her husband John "Jack" A. Bailey; her children Dave Bailey (Linnea Winquist), Scott Bailey (Robin), and Sue Brandau (Peter); grandchildren Joshua Bailey, Anders Winquist-Bailey, John Brandau, Alex Bailey, Amber Winquist-Bailey, Charlie Brandau and Soren Winquist-Bailey; sisters Cheryl Boyer, Betty Zimmerman, and brother Charles Shoemaker; brother's in law Tom Bailey, Bob Bailey, and Pete Bailey (Barbara); nieces Karen Silva (Francisco and children Johnny and Brandon), Katie Berndt (Dave), Amy Schaffer, Emily Ramondetta, and Christine Bailey; nephew Rob Boyer (Erin), and Peter Bailey; cousin Larry Phetteplace (Pam); and a host of friends and other relatives. In addition to her parents she was preceded in death by her beloved grandparents Hazel and Ross Shank. Visitation will be held Thursday 4:00-8:00 p.m. March 10, 2016 at The Healy Chapel, 370 Division Dr., Sugar Grove, IL 60554. Funeral services to celebrate her life will be held on Friday, March 11, 2016 at 10:00 a.m. also at the funeral home. Interment following the service, will take place at Lincoln Memorial Park.
