Lynn Barclay Obituary

LYNN MARIE (WEBER) BARCLAY, loved and cherished wife, mother, sister, daughter, and friend, lost her years-long battle with glioblastoma on June 5, 2018, when she died peacefully surrounded by family in her home. Lynn was born in Aurora, Illinois on December 3, 1949 to Robert and Eleanor Weber. Lynn graduated from Madonna High School and attended Northern Illinois University and Waubonsee Community College, and spent 42 years working for the pediatric practice of Dr. Paul Granoff, including at Rush Copley Pediatrics and Family Medicine. It was a job that she treasured every single day as she touched the hearts of so many children and families in the Fox Valley community. Lynn was best known for her warmth, beauty, grace, and kindness to others. Over the years, Lynn attended countless school events, sports meets, and music recitals of her children and grandchildren with fervent enthusiasm and love. She was happiest when she was spending time with her family, providing care and support to pediatric patients and their families, and tending to her garden. Lynn is survived by: Robert of Aurora, IL, her loving husband of 47 years; her children and their spouses: Lisa Barclay and Tim Berry of Chevy Chase, MD, Steven and Heather Barclay of Chicago, IL, Gina and Ozgur Ekinci of Aurora, IL; her grandchildren: Eleanor Berry, Christopher Berry, Maeve Berry, Beatrice Barclay, Altay Ekinci, and Selvi Ekinci; her siblings and their spouses: Robert and Anne Weber of Aurora, IL, Patricia and Larry Lawrence of Eckerty, IN, and Kaye and Frank Cosentino of Aurora, IL; her nieces, nephews, and cousins; and her many friends, colleagues, and neighbors. There will be a private celebration of Lynn's life for family and friends. Those interested in attending should feel free to reach out to a family member for details. In lieu of flowers, contributions can be made to Big Heart Family Fund in Honor of Lynn Barclay at Rush Copley Medical Center. Inspired by her compassionate and loving spirit, this fund was created in her honor by the physicians with whom Lynn worked. From help with permanent housing to diapers and proper nutrition for newborns, the fund helps families in need, providing health and safety equipment, parenting books, children's books, and developmental toys. Bob and family, I am so sorry for the loss of your dear wife, mother sister and grandmother. Lynn and I went to Madonna together and we had lunch together 2 years ago with a group of graduates/friends. I am also a friend of Karlene's and she's the one who's been keeping me posted about Lynn and called me last Tuesday after she had passed. I will not be able to attend the open house at your home on the 23rd because we will be on vacation. May God be with all of you at this very difficult time and may she R.I.P. I will be keeping her and your family in my prayers as I have been for the past couple of years. Take care. In sympathy, Diane Mazanec

Dear Barclay and Weber Families,

Remembering Lynn as a childhood neighbor, schoolmate, and a compassionate nurse. It was a great day for the pigeon hill neighborhood when the Weber's moved in.

We are so sorry for your loss and for the pain and sadness Lynn went through. She was an amazing person and we were all blessed to have had her in our lives.

May God bless and comfort each of you.

Dear Barclay and Weber Families,

Our thoughts and prayers have been with all of you. Remembering
Lynn as a childhood neighbor, fellow parishioner, and a caring nurse who helped our children feel comfortable for many years. In their busy lives, Lynn and Bob took time to visit Mom bringing her joy and compassion as they did for many others. Our pigeon hill neighborhood was blessed when the Weber family moved in.

God bless and comfort each of you.

Dear Bob,
It was sad to read of Lynn's passing. When we spoke I didn't realize that things were so imminent I'm sorry. Lynn was such a sweet person, kind and with a great sense of humor. It seems like it wasn't that long ago that we were all in high school together; and, over the years, it was always good to see both of you. Please know that my thoughts and prayers are with you, and with your children.
John
