M. Carney Obituary

M. Shirley Carney, age 85, of North Aurora, IL, passed away on Saturday, June 28, 2008 at Provena Mercy Center Hospital in Aurora, IL. She was born on January 18, 1923 in Yorkville, IL, the daughter of Lyle and Sadie Stevenson.

Shirley was united in marriage on February 1, 1956 in Chicago, IL to Mr. Earl J. Carney and they spent many happy years together until his passing. She was a member of St. Paul Lutheran Church in Villa Park, IL. Shirley enjoyed several hobbies including gardening, needle work, and ceramics. She was a loving mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, great-great-grandmother, sister, and aunt who will be deeply missed by her family and friends.

She is survived by her children, Earl (Shirley) Carney of Salt Lake City, UT, Marchan Chobanic of Argo, IL, and Barry (Susan) Carney of North Aurora, IL; her four grandchildren; 15 great-grandchildren; 23 great-great grandchildren; her brothers, Lyle (Marge) Stevenson of Yorkville, IL, and Robert (Doris) Stevenson of Yorkville; and her sister-in-law, Joyce Stevenson of Yorkville, IL; as well as many nieces and nephews.

She is preceded in death by her parents, Lyle and Sadie Stevenson; her husband, Earl J. Carney; her brother, Don Stevenson; her step-son, Emil Carney; and her grandson, Dennis Carney.

Funeral Services will be held at 10:00 A.M. on Wednesday, July 2, 2008 at the Larson-Nelson Funeral Home, 410 E. Countryside Parkway, Yorkville, IL. Interment will follow in the Helmar Lutheran Cemetery, Newark, IL.

Friends may visit from 4:00 until 7:00 P.M. on Tuesday, July 1, 2008 at the Larson-Nelson Funeral Home in Yorkville, IL.
