Michael McGivney Obituary

Michael Patrick "Hoss" McGivney, age 21, a lifelong resident of Aurora, IL, passed away unexpectedly on Monday, August 28, 2023. He was born on November 13, 2001, at Rush-Copley Medical Center in Aurora.

Beloved son of Dr. Thomas and Kimberly (nee Yanssens) McGivney, loving brother of Madison, Dylan and Riley McGivney, cherished grandson of the late Barbara and Neil McGivney and the late Joyce and Ernest Yanssens, dear nephew of Dr. Randall (Suzanne) McGivney, Karen McGivney and Tracey (Steve) Klein; Tracy (Steve) Trump, great-nephew of JoAnn (Jim) Bortle, fond cousin of Shannon (Mike) Sanew, Christine McGivney (Jaime Pardo Palau), Kate (Brian) Tharp and Robert McGivney; the late Nicholas Liechti, Rebekah (Roger) Knobeloch, Michael (Isabella) Liechti and Hannah (Andrew) Koranda; Kevin Klein, Megan (Stephen) Kane and Brian Klein; Jonathan (Joy) Goodman; Ashley (Shawn McQuiston) Goodman, second cousin of Tyrus, Jack and Georgia Sanew; Dylan Tharp; Caleb, Levi, Jude, Elizabeth and Abigail Knobeloch; Ethyn and Payton Goodman and Dylan and Cameryn Conklin; Isabel and Aiden Rosales and Elliot Goodman, friend of many.

Michael grew up in Aurora. He attended Annunciation B.V.M. Catholic Church Grade School through the third grade and SS. Peter & Paul Grade School in Naperville from fourth to eighth grade. He was a graduate of Benet Academy in Lisle, IL, Class of 2020, where he was a four-year member of the varsity football team and achieved All Conference status as a captain. Michael had a love for football that went beyond that of the average fan, with a deep knowledge of the sport which he loved to share with those around him. He loved to make people laugh and shared his laughter with those around him. Michael had just begun his senior year at Miami University in Oxford, OH.

Visitation will be held on Tuesday, September 5, 2023, 3:00-8:00 PM at Friedrich-Jones Funeral Home & Cremation Services, 44 S. Mill Street, Naperville.

A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated on Wednesday, September 6, 11:00 AM at SS. Peter & Paul Catholic Church, 36 N. Ellsworth St., Naperville.

Entombment will follow at the Mausoleum of the Holy Apostles, SS. Peter & Paul Cemetery, Naperville.

In lieu of flowers, donations in Michael's memory can be made to a charity of the donor's choice.

Please accept our most sincere condolences to Michael's parents, we are deeply sorry for your loss.
Our daughter, Caroline
was a Benet Academy classmate of Michael's- he sat behind her in class. She cried for days when she heard the recent news and she said: "he was a SUCH a nice guy". She has made arrangements to have 10 Masses said in Michael's Name at The University of Illinois campus
