Norma Williams Obituary

Norma J. Williams, 86, of Aurora went home to heaven on December 9 and will be deeply missed by so many family and friends. Norma, a proud Italian and Luxembourger, was born

in Aurora. She was a life-long member of Annunciation Church and proud West Aurora HS Blackhawk (class of '53). Norma married the love of her life, Bob "Cowboy (Cow)", on November 12, 1955, spending 66 wonderful years together. She was a loving and dedicated wife/mother, able to stay at home full-time to care for her family… with having special next-door neighbor, Jeannine Bonifas, to visit daily (they were the Wilma Flintstone and Betty Rubble of Creek Ave.). Later in life, she worked part-time for 20+ years at Aurora Central Catholic HS as a cafeteria lunch lady in which she enjoyed serving such a great bunch of kids.

Norma was an exceptional bowler (AWBA 600 club member) and golfer, carding two hole-in-ones and was a five-time Cow Sucks Golf Tournament champion. She and Bob, cherished their special large group of life-time friends and went on numerous story-filled golf and Vegas trips together. Norma also was an exemplary walleye fisherwoman. She and Bob enjoyed many years fishing in Minnesota with the Okerblads and Millers, making a lifetime of special memories. Norma was an avid puzzler, card player, casino goer, Cubs fan and cook. She cooked with love and generosity, knowing that her dishes brought happiness to her family and comfort to many who were hurting.

Norma is survived by her beloved husband, Bob; daughter Sandy (Mike) Murphy; son Mike Williams; daughter Lisa (Scott) Roscoe and son Jerry Williams. She adored her grandchildren Megan (Tom) Curry, Todd (Rachel) Murphy, Mallory (Scott) Franzen, Chad (Lauren Janssen) Roscoe, Michelle (Gabe) Blau, Branden Roscoe and her ten great-grandchildren ("the punks") that brought her so much joy.

Norma is also survived by sister Nancy McElyea; brother Jim (Judy) Chione; sister Lenore (Bob) Edlund; sister-in-law Nancy Schopp; and many nieces, nephews, cousins and friends.

She was preceded in death by her parents Dominic and Marie Chione; father- and mother-in-law Cliff and Bernice Williams; brother-in-law Ralph McElyea; and brother-in-law Wayne Schopp.

Visitation will be held at Dieterle Memorial Home in Montgomery, IL, from 3:00 to 7:00 pm on Tuesday, December 14th. A funeral mass will be held at Annunciation BVM Church in Aurora, IL at 11:00 am on Wednesday, December 15th, followed by interment at Marywood Cemetery. Due to the current restrictions and the sensitivity of Norma's passing, the family is requesting that all guests please wear a mask for indoor services.

The family would like to extend our sincerest gratitude to Rush/Copley nursing staff, especially Ashley and Chaplain Dan Sullivan who provided the physical and spiritual support, respectively, to Norma; and Seasons hospice Dr. Dyman Kwarciak. We would also like to thank Drs. Atif Fakhruddin and John Karesh for their many years of compassion and care for mom.

I am one of Norma's "punks" I have so many memories with her. I remember she would always be at the family gathering for an example the tortellini in which we did every year. I remember I would always go and walk to her house. I remember her house with all my heart. You would walk in the grauge and I remember the handle to get up the grauge stairs. That would lead you to the kitchen if you go under the sink she always had fruit roll ups to give to us. I remember a painting on the wall that would lead you to the living room with the couch and TV but what held the most memories in that living room was the glass cabinet with all the little characters and the toy box what held a lot of old old toys. I remember back when I was little I would go down the dark hallway to go to the bathroom and I would get scared of grandpa's dentures and across the hall was grandpa's room with nothing but a chair and a TV on full volume. I don't remember much of down stairs I remember the big violin and the couch and bathroom. One of my greatest memories is the nicknames she gave us. The whole group being called "punks" and that just made me feel like home. Overall condolences to you grandma and grandpa Williams it has been a hard couple years without you. I Miss you. I am 12 years old now and I can't wait to see you in heaven one day. Love you and miss you-Lilly punk

Sorry to hear about your mother's passing. I didn't know your maiden name and I didn't realize it until you mentioned it in your sympathy card to me. I am so sorry.

In 1953 I was lucky enough to be the ring bearer in Bob and Norma's wedding. Bob is also my godfather and both were family. My condolences to the family in the loss of a caring and loving person.
