Andrew "Andy" Rullman, 69, of Newland, NC, passed away suddenly of natural causes on Friday, January 26, 2024. The youngest of nine children, Andy was born on January 28, 1954 in Hickory, NC to parents, Carl and Elizabeth Rullman.
After graduating from St. Stephens High School in Hickory in 1972, he studied business administration at Lenoir Rhyne College and graduated Magna Cum Laude In 1976.
After graduation, Andy began his career as a furniture sales representative working under his brother, Hank Rullman, in Florida. He then worked for Broyhill Furniture Industries for almost 20 years. He continued to work in the furniture industry until his retirement.
He met his wife Alice Cline in Sunday School class, and they married in 1986. He welcomed 13-year-old stepson, John McCurdy and 10-year-old stepdaughter, Elizabeth Anne McCurdy with open arms and helped Alice raise them.
After retirement, Andy spent most of his time in the North Carolina mountains with his family and grandchildren. He loved worshiping at church and welcoming newcomers. He enjoyed singing with his family, family gatherings, Camp Linn Haven family week, long walks, playing bridge with his sisters, and especially spending time with his grandchildren. When they visited, he made a mean Chili Mac.
Andy was preceded in death by his parents, Carl and Elizabeth Rullman; his sister and brother-in-law, Jettie and John Greenday, and brother, Cap Rullman.
He is survived by his loving wife Alice Rullman of Newland; stepson, John A. McCurdy III of Cornelius; stepdaughter, Elizabeth McCurdy Hueman (Kevin) of Raleigh NC; grandchildren, Hunter, 17, Holt, 14, and Reagan, 12 of Raleigh, NC; brothers, Carl W. Rullman, Jr. (Frances/Bugs); Henry "Hank" Rullman (Joan); Glenn Rullman (Jacki), and sisters, Carolyn Good (David); sister-in-law, Arlys Rullman; sister, Denetia Johnson (Jim), and sister, Amy Hofman (Donnie).
His family and friends will miss his big laugh, big heart, and big hugs! Services will be held at St. Stephens Lutheran Church LCMS in Hickory, NC, Friday, February 2, receiving from 10:30 to 11:45 a.m., with a service following at noon.
In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made in his memory to Lutheran Hour Ministries, 660 Mason Ridge Center, St. Louis, MO 63141 and Camp Linn Haven, PO Box 1096, Conover, NC 28613.

I knew Andy at Lenoir-Rhyne College (now University). Andy and I were brothers in Theta Xi Fraternity. He was a mentor to me and a leader in the fraternity an served as our president My condolences to his wife and family. He was great guy!!!
