Michael "Todd" Watson, 54, of Spruce Pine, NC, went home to be with the Lord on Monday, December 26, 2022 at Blue Ridge Regional Hospital.
He is a son of Brenda Tipton Watson and the late James Watson. Todd loved visiting the beach to put his toes in the sand, taking trips to the lake, and enjoyed motorcycles and woodworking. He also loved his animals: Rufus, Star, Max, and Mog. Todd was the most giving person who adored his family and friends.
Surviving is his loving fiancée, Michelle Buchanan; mother, Brenda T. Watson; daughters and adopted daughters: Sophie Watson of Cullowhee, Rebecca Casey (Sean) of Boiling Springs, SC, Sarah Buchanan of Cullowhee, and Seigie Lee (Erick) of Elk Park; son and adopted son: Josh Blackburn (Heather) of Spruce Pine and Preston Childress of Newland; two brothers: Brian Watson (Caroline) and Scott Watson (Pam), all of Newland; four grandchildren and adopted grandchildren: Hadlee Blackburn, Rylee Blackburn, Asher Lee, and Ralynn Lee; and former wife, Natalie Watson of Newton. Several nieces and nephews, as well as a host of special friends, also survive.
A Celebration of Life was held at 6 p.m. on Friday, Dec. 30, at Powdermill Baptist Church. Pastor Michael Burnop officiated. The family received friends from 4 to 6 p.m. prior to the service. Burial took place in the Yellow Mountain Cemetery.
