Antek Walter IGNATOWICZ

1964 - 2018

On April 5, 2018, Antek Walter Ignatowicz, 54, loving husband, beloved high school science teacher, mentor and friend to many, passed away. He will be missed forever.
Born in Los Angeles, he attended Simi Valley High, and graduated from Cal State Northridge with a chemistry degree. He began his teaching career at Highland High in Palmdale, before transferring to Palmdale High.
Mr. I, as students and fellow teachers called him, inspired them all by entering The Solar Car Challenge, based in Ft. Worth, Texas. The program requires students and their teachers to research, design, manufacture and race a solar car cross-country.
The ?Solar Falcon? team competed and defeated teams from privileged private schools, earning several coveted awards including STEM and AIRE, and several students went on to engineering careers.
He will be fondly remembered by friends, fellow teachers, and countless students who looked to him for leadership and inspiration.
Antek is survived by his wife and best friend Janelle.
A memorial service will be held at the Highlands Christian Fellowship, 39625 20th St. W, Palmdale, Saturday at 10 a.m., April 28, 2018.
In lieu of flowers, Janelle prefers donations to a scholarship fund set up in Antek's memory. Information will be found in the memorial program.
