Earl Campbell Obituary

Earl Norman Campbell June 17, 1935 – March 8, 2024 Born in Prescott, AZ; raised in Belfair, Washington by his parents Lucille and Earl Campbell. Our dad came to the Antelope Valley in 1971, being stationed at EAFB as a Missile Maintenance Technician. He was responsible for all ground communications for the Titan 1A Missile Sites. Earl did tours in Crete Greece, Vietnam and Greenland during his time of service. After retiring in 1973 after 20 years, he went to work for the Mojave school system as a grounds keeper and then a school bus driver. Has also the president of CSEA Mojave district for quite a few years. After finally retiring in 1997 he and our mom settled in Rosamond. With retirement life traveling in their RV up and down the west coast, then joining their friends at the Donut House in Rosamond, or the Wayside Cafe. Dad was an avid collector of Lionel trains, hot wheels, model airplanes and anything Star Trek. His collection is extensive. He was an avid fan of all James Bond Movies, and quite the Peanut Butter cookie connoisseur. He loved growing his roses. There are truly so many stories we could tell you about our dad living in the mountains of Washington. He once brought a bear cub into the home, left it to it's own devices and took off to play with his buddy. The bear destroyed the inside of the home leaving our grandmother to wonder why she was a mom to two boys. His humor was dry, his wit was keen. You would find him mostly listening to stories and only sharing when he absolutely felt his words brough enjoyment to others. His wisdom was invaluable, and while raising 3 daughters, his energy was constant. He had a habit of answering the phone before mom almost every time. He joins his wife Lorraine Campbell (Oakes) of 65 years pf marriage in Heaven. He is survived by his brother Deloss (Betty,) daughters Shannon Herringshaw (Michael) TX, Cheryl Jordan (Bradford) CA and Kimberly Jensen (Earlyn) VA, 3 grandchildren, 5 great grandchildren, and one great-great grandchild.
