Esequiel Rodriguez Obituary

Esequiel Lopez Rodriguez December 20, 1957 - March 27, 2024 Lancaster - Esequiel Lopez Rodriguez - cherished husband, father, friend, great warrior & US hero peacefully entered eternity on March 27, 2024 at home, surrounded by his wife and children. Esequiel was born Dec. 20, 1957 in El Paso, Tx, spending his childhood in Mexico before returning to California. Esequiel enlisted into the US ARMY in 1978; proudly serving for over 22 1/2 years, leaving as an E-9, Sergeant Major and earning well over 35 awards & commendations. He served valiantly in the Army Special Forces & Airborne unit. Sgt Major Rodriguez deployed with the 82nd Airborne Division for Operation Desert Shield/Desert Storm. Esequiel's most precious adventure began in 1980 when he married his teenage sweetheart and lifelong best friend, Bertha. Three children, nine grandchildren and two great-grandchildren are the fruit of this fantastic Rodriguez family tree! At all times, Esequiel was a devoted family man who he loved jogging, shooting, mentoring, and giving of time, talent, and finances. He especially delighted sharing his love of music & Latin percussion instruments with any who would listen - the neighborhood loved hearing him play his Latin Congas from his garage. Esequiel is survived by his most beloved wife, Bertha, his treasured mother, Avelina, all 9 of his younger siblings and his children, grandchildren & great-grandchildren. All of his family loves him as dearly as he loved them: more than words could ever express! Times and places for Memorial Services for Esequiel L. The best father a daughter could ask for, he was always there when it mattered to fix my boo-boos, watch my cross country races and witness all my milestones in life. I will always love you.

Meeting him through my sister and brother in law as one of the best neighbors I could ever ask for! In the 24 years living next to him, we always knew we would here some great new music as he would break out some new Latin rhythm that we would love - generally playing it on his congas!
