Martin McGarey Obituary

Martin Leroy McGarey July 25, 1946 - January 9, 2023 On Monday, January 9, 2023, Martin L. McGarey, loving father of two, died at the age of 76. Marty was born in Los Angeles, to Melvin and Letitia, and raised in Santa Monica, California. He graduated from Santa Monica High School and Santa Monica City College. He married Susan Ogg on December 14, 1968. Together they raised two children, Kris and Matt. The family moved to the Antelope Valley in 1970. Marty had a long and satisfying career with General Telephone (GTE) and retired in 1999. He enjoyed geocaching in the Valley and around Southern California. Marty also enjoyed a hobby of working on computers, always being ready to help a friend or stranger with computer problems. He loved music, hearty breakfasts, juicy ribs and well made Manhattan cocktails. Martin was preceded in death by his father Melvin, mother Letitia, and sister Catherine del Valle. He is survived by his two children, two granddaughters, Corinne and Maggie, his brother Vince, and several nieces and nephews. A private celebration of life was held with family and close friends.

Sad and heartbroken. Lost a very good friend over the years I got a chance to know Marty. He went out of his way to help those who needed help with Computers I had a chance to celebrate his Birthday with him and meet his loving family. Everyone whoever met him liked him. He will surely be missed. Richard
