Alan Ram Obituary

Ram, Alan E.
Alan E. Ram, 53, of Scottsdale, Arizona, died unexpectedly on Monday, July 17th, 2017, in Mesa, Arizona. Alan is survived by his Fiancée Melissa Brown; his parents Edna and Michael Ram; sisters Shelley Ram-Saban and Dorrit Ram; brothers-in-law Avi Saban and Amit Levy; niece and nephews Mia, Liam, Evyatar and Idan; and Jagger, his F1 Savannah. Raised in Buffalo NY, Alan enjoyed playing competitive tennis, watching the Buffalo Bills and eating wings. He then went on to serve the country in the United States Marine Corps when he was honorably discharged. He stayed in San Diego where he entered into the automotive industry. Alan was a hard worker who seized opportunities to build a successful business that grew to become one of the most successful in the automotive industry. He never took his success for granted and was a generous donor, supporting charities for veterans and under privileged children. He formed the Janeen Barber Foundation in honor of Janeen Barber, who was like a mother to Alan and instrumental in helping him reach his potential. Most of all, Alan was a loyal and dedicated friend with a great sense of humor and a presence that filled the room. He was passionate about flying, football, and travel and will be greatly missed. The memorial services will be held at Hansen Desert Hills Mortuary & Cemetery at 3PM on Friday, July 20.

I met Alan in 1991 when he worked for Tom Stuker and I was working at Pacific Honda in San Diego. After Alan went on his own I worked for him training salespeople at dealerships all over the country for two years. He trained me how to be a great trainer! When he had his house in Jamul, we had incredibly fierce table tennis matches there when we took work breaks. When we played tennis, he killed me and I was #1singles for my high school in Houston! One time when he was training me we were having a power lunch with Frank (I think Canistero) of Cadillac of South San Francisco (Colma, Ca), and I asked for a hot chocolate. He kicked me under the table, lol! From then on he called me "cocoa boy"! RIP Alan!

I was devastated when I heard the news. Alan and I had spent the past several months setting up some training for our company. He was so personable and an absolute gentleman to work with. He was funny and full of life. I am so sorry for his family, his fiancé and his co-workers. You will all be in my prayers. God bless you all.

My husband Irv Grant and I have known Alan Ram since the mid 1990's when he first came to our dealership to teach our staff how to handle the phones. Irv had great respect for Alan and they spoke regularly. Alan had a real spark about him, an energy that lead to his success. He also had a great sense of humor.

We are both shocked and saddened by this. I last saw Alan in Tampa at a convention. I have enjoyed watching Alan become known on a national level. He didn't get there with out a lot of hard work and dedication.

We want his family to know although we are in Georgia, we offer our heartfelt condolences. We really thought a lot of Alan.

Alan was an enormously positive force in the auto industry. His energy and enthusiasm was infectious. He went out of his way to help me and my business, just as he did for many others. He was one of the good guys in this business. As Randy Travis sang in Three Wooden Crosses, "it's not what you take when you leave this world behind you, It's what you leave behind you when you go." Alan left much good. Rest in peace, my friend. You left us way too soon

Alan was one of my oldest friends...we met in San Diego California during our 20's at a time when we were both trying to find both our personal and professional paths.

Alan was a very generous, funny and intelligent guy who loved entertaining and travel and had infectious energy! The last time we spoke, just before his engagement party, he had invited my husband and I to attend but we were already committed to a trip to Sedona, so we agreed to meet up in August. How sad I am that I never got to see Alan again and meet his future wife!

Alan, thank you for your friendship and kindness over the years...you will never be forgotten.

Namaste...

To the Ram Family: My heartfelt sympathies go out to the family and friends during this difficult time. I hope that the promise in 1 Thessalonians 4:14 can bring comfort. Knowing that there's a hope for the ones we have lost in death can be so reassuring.

On behalf of all the people and employees of our dealer group, Atlantic Auto Group- West Islip New York, we want to thank Alan for his knowledge, his ability to inspire and, more importantly, for his genuine friendship. He was a key intructor and mentor for the Group and inspired all of us to strieve for higher and higher plateaus in our industry. Not a single person here can say that Alan has not served as a mentor and elevator of talent and inspiration to them- encourged us to do greater and more notable things and reach higher levels.
God Bless you Alan, and your Family. Safe Journey,
