Albert Edwin Schmidlin

Albert Edwin Schmidlin passed away on Sunday, 3/16/2008 at Banner Good Samaritan Hospital. Albert, a devoted husband, father, grandfather and great grandfather was a Phoenix AZ native, born on 8/17/1922. A WWII Veteran Army Air Force Pilot from 1942-1946, Albert flew many different airplanes during the war, including the Stearman 17, Vultee 13, AT-17 Bamboo Bomber and Troop Transport planes and was proud to serve his country. After his honorable discharge he was owner/operator of Smitty's Auto Supply Store on 12th St/Indian School Rd in Phoenix for many years before working for Sawyer Aviation, and then retiring after 10 years employment with Allied Signal. Albert was a lifetime active member of the Elks Club, the Desert Boat and Ski Club, and the Forresters Camper Club. Albert leaves his family with many wonderful memories and will be greatly missed. He leaves behind his eternal sweetheart and loving wife, Lois of nearly 65 years of marriage, sons Gary and Craig, daughter-in-laws Gloria and Betty, grandsons STF SGT Sean, Scott, Eric and CPL Brian Schmidlin, 4 great grandchildren, Brother Bill and sister Virginia. In addition, he will also be missed by all of his extended family and friends. Visitation will be on Friday, 3/21 at 12:30pm, followed by a 1:00pm service at the Paradise Chapel Funeral Home, 3934 E. Indian School Road in Phoenix, 85018. Internment will follow at the Green Acres Cemetery at 401 N. Hayden Road in Scottsdale.
