McDermott, Alice (Regan)
a longtime resident of Chelmsford, passed away Tuesday March 3, 2009 at the Lahey Clinic in Burlington. She was the beloved wife of the late Richard T. McDermott who died in 1999. Alice was born in Lowell on Oct. 19, 1915, the daughter of the late Peter and Elizabeth (Boyle) Regan. Mrs. McDermott received her Registered Nurse degree from Tewksbury State Hospital. She was a communicant of St. Mary's Church, Chelmsford. Alice was a member of Vesper Country Club in Tyngsboro, Oyster Harbors Club, and the Wianno Club, both in Osterville, where she was an avid golfer and tennis player. She was also a member of the Chelmsford Garden Club. Alice enjoyed summers at her home in Wianno on Cape Cod, and her home in San Diego. She was a sports enthusiast and was passionate about her Celtics and Bruins. She is survived by her four loving children; Teresa A. Gacomo and her husband Kevin of Chelmsford, Mary McDermott-Slawsby and her husband Denis of Scottsdale, AZ, Robert McDermott and his wife Virginia of Sudbury, and Richard T. McDermott Jr. and his wife Patricia of Scottsdale, AZ, 10 grandchildren; Thomas, Kelly, and Christopher McDermott of Sudbury, Elizabeth LeDuc and her husband David of Lowell, Kevin Gacomo Jr. of Winthrop, Ben and Devin Slawsby, Cristin Kracht and her husband Jim, and Kerri and Rich McDermott all of AZ, great granddaughter; Mia McDermott of AZ and several nieces and nephews in the Lowell area. Alice was also the sister of the late Joseph Regan who died in June of 2008. Visiting hours at the BLAKE FUNERAL HOME, 24 Worthen St., CHELMSFORD on Friday evening from 6-8 pm. Her Funeral Mass will be held on Saturday morning at 9 o'clock at St. Mary's Church, Chelmsford. Cremation to follow at Linwood Crematory, Haverhill.
