Allan and Virginia were very dear friends of my mother, Elinor Shaw. My family will always have fond memories of her good friends who were always there in happiness and sorrow. We were first introduced when Northminster Church first began, and the meetings were held at our home. Virginia and Allan were a constant discussion in our home because they touched all our lives with their kindness. It's an end of an era, however, will always live in our hearts. Their children can always be so proud to have had them as parents. Sincerely, Joan and Jimmy Saturno

It gives me great honor to gather here today at Northminster Presbyterian Church where Allan Chilton served as a Deacon and Elder. Allan's handyman work surrounds us all today. It's in this very foundation, the walls and even the ceiling.
Thank you all for coming to celebrate his remarkable life.
Allan Clyde Chilton, born June 2, 1922 on the family farm in Williamstown, New York. Allan was the oldest of four children. Being the only boy, he began his day under kerosene lamp with a list of chores before walking 1 mile to school only to return home to additional chores and homework. By age 12 Allan said my feet could finally reach the pedals, so he was tasked to Plowing fields in the spring with a 3 horse team, helping w/harvests, caring for the horses, chickens, milking the cows and keeping the farm equipment in working order.
Throughout his school years Allen excelled at sports; basketball, baseball, hockey and soccer. Graduating from Williamstown High School in 1941 with a graduating class total of 9. After graduating Allan went on to Radio Technical School.
In 1946, upon a meadow, under a tree Allan got on his knee and proposed to the love of his life Virginia Hastings. They carved their names in the tree and married is a small intimate ceremony at her parent's home August 18th, 1946 then on to Honeymooning throughout Vermont and New Hampshire.
In 1946, Allan was proud and honored to join the oldest and largest fraternity The Free Mason's. Composed of men of good will, good charter, believe in the Almighty Creator and loyalty to their county. Allan truly lived up to The Free Mason's focus of being of service to all mankind.
In the early days of their marriage Allan worked, and built the family home in Oriskany, New York while Virginia dedicated her life to making a home for them and their 4 children Webster, Diane, Suzanne and John.
The winter of 64' brought on a new adventure for the Chilton family. With Allan's recent layoff at GE and his severe asthma they packed their belongings and moved cross country arriving in Arizona December 6th 1964.
Allan's career accomplishments within General Electric/Honeywell spanned from 1952 to 2002. His superior wrote; Allan is a quiet, hardworking individual who is well liked and respected by his associates. Allan has earned respect by his quality work, effectiveness, planning and willingness to communicate ideas and concerns.
After supporting, raising family and eventually retiring from Honeywell Allan found more time to explore old hobbies and create new interests.
-Volunteering for Phoenix Police Department issuing tickets and making court appearances to violators of handicap parking.
-Traveling- Camping and traveling throughout the United States, Exploring Alaska, Hawaii and many European countries.
-Photography- Documenting life moments. Creating Slide Shows to share with family and friends.
When home Allan and Virginia found more and more activities to enjoy together as a couple. Finding enjoyment in Square Dancing, Ballroom Dancing, Card Night with friends, Attending and support their grandchild and great grandchildren's sporting and life events.
I know many of you will have your own special memories of Allan. Here are just a few of mine.
1-Moped Bike riding- 1st time I learned to ride was in this very parking lot.
2-Learning to build and repair from Mr. Fix it
3-Gun Safety and Target Shooting- Sorry Grandpa still can't hit a target to date.
4-Fishing Trips
5-Boating trips and my many failed attempts to learn to water ski.
6-Putting grandchild on his knee and singing Trot away to Boston
7-Grandpa Slippers- Coming down the hallway early morning to read the paper or nights when he couldn't sleep he sat up and played card games. I called it the Grandpa Shuffle
8-Slide Show Night to share Allan and Virginia's latest adventure
9-Always there to support and cheer on his family
Heaven has truly received another angel; the night sky another star,
You were a loving caring grandpa; always present in the moment and available. You will always hold a place in my heart
You were really one in a million, A cut above the rest
All that knew you would agree You simply were the best.
So grandpa I will say goodbye I love and miss you with all my heart
But as long as I have my loving memories We will never be too far apart.

Allan was an amazing man and I know he is going to be missed by his family and friends. We recently had a wonderful visit in Deleware, and I am so happy that we were able to spend that time together.

Allan was a kind and gentle man. I always admired him for bringing Virginia in a wheelchair to the square dances so she could be a part of the square dance club where he square danced. I am sure he and Virginia are continuing their lives in heaven. Please accept my deepest sympathy.
