Anna Wilsnack, age 94, of Speigletown (Troy) NY, peacefully entered into eternal life with her loving daughter, Cindi, by her side on April 21, 2016 in Mesa, Arizona. Born in Maplewood, NY, she was the daughter of the late Frank and Mary Stetz Tanchak and was the beloved wife of Walter W. Wilsnack, who died on December 9, 1989. She was a graduate of the Maplewood Schools and was a U.S. Army veteran of World War II. She was bestowed the WAAC Service Medal, the American Campaign Medal, the Good Conduct Medal and the WWII Victory Medal. Ann was very proud of her military service and appeared in the Veteran's Day Parade in Mesa, AZ in 2013, representing Women in Service to our country in WWII. Ann was also honored and appeared in an exhibit, titled "Women in History", at the James J. Peters Veteran's Administration Medical Center in NY. Ann was a clerical worker at the Watervliet (NY) Arsenal where she met and later married the late Walter Wilsnack and then became a homemaker. She was the first female and Charter Member of the Maplewood American Legion Post #1615, where she had been a member for 49 years. She served her community as a Charter member of the Brunswick Elks Lodge # 2556, the Speigletown District Volunteer Fire Company Auxiliary, as Treasurer of Boy Scout Troop #679 in Speigletown, as a leader in the 4-H Club, where she was a cooking instructor, and she also volunteered at the Ladies Home Bureau. Ann discovered wonderful new experiences during her visit to Mesa, AZ, especially at Oakwood Creative Care. She appeared in a film documentary about this wonderful organization in 2014. Her artwork, titled "Maplewood" appeared in an exhibit at the Mesa Contemporary Art Museum the same year. Devoted mother of Cynthia A. Walcott of Mesa, AZ, Patricia A. ORourke of Maplewood (Carl Plue) and Walter W. Wilsnack, III of Speigletown, cherished grandmother of Jaime L. Wilsnack of NYC, and John Walter O'Rourke (Danielle) of Cropseyville, NY, adored great grandmother of Declan G. O'Rourke, also survived by several nephews. She was predeceased by four brothers and one sister. The Funeral and Services were held on May 4, 2016 at St. Basil's Russian Orthodox Church, Maplewood, NY where the Divine Liturgy was celebrated. Interment with military honors was held in Oakwood Cemetery in Troy.
