Memorial Day Poem
Memorial Day
Of every year
The little valiant
Flags appear
On every fallen
Soldier's grave--
Symbol of what
Each died to save.
And we who see
And still have breath--
Are we no wiser
For their death?

To my family

The winds blow, the rain come dry leaves fall to earth. Seasons change as we all know and God seasoned Benny from head to toe. He was in time under heaven, for a purpose and a season and know that his work on earth is finished, he laborith not but rejoice unto the lord. Oh to my family whom I love dearly, no need for mourning be happy be cheery. The faces of gladness overwhelm the faces of saddness. Death, not lifes end but life begin. His body lay resting, his spirit most high. Ashes to ashes, dust to dust, blessed is Benny because he trust. God cleanesed his soul from all sin, wrapped Benny in his arms and took him home with him.
I love you

Be Still

Be still like the grass on a melancholy summer day
Be still like desert shrub.

Be calm and you will hear your loved one speak, in the stillness, in the calm, their love resounds.

If you are still this promise I make, you will hear the voice of your loved one helping you along your way.

Benny was and will always be like a second father to me. He was always there to give his advice and support. He loved his family and especially adored his grandchildren. Benny would do anything for his grandchildren and family! And there was never a time that he couldn't give stats for any sporting event that was being talked about or watched!
Benny will be deeply missed by all of those whose lives he has touched. We will meet again, until then you will forever be in our hearts and we are sure that you are looking out for us all!
Love you.

The Broken Chain
We little knew that morning,
God was going to call your name,
In life we loved you dearly,
In death we do the same.

It broke our hearts to lose you,
You did not go alone,
For part of us went with you,
The day God called you home.

You left us beautiful memories,
Your love is still our guide,
And though we cannot see you,
You are always by our side.

Our family chain is broken,
And nothing seems the same,
But as God calls us one by one,
The chain will link again

Dear Papa,

You were the best grandpa ever. You taught me a lot over the years, you taught me how to fish. I loved it when you took us traveling to South Carolina and Louisiana. I loved it when you took us to Arkansas to see your sister Josie, it was so much fun. I remember when your sisters came over for your birthday and your anniversary, I had so much fun with everybody. I bet if you were here right now you would like this letter that I wrote you, I know you would hug me and tell me you love me. I remember when you took us to see your mom, dad and brother grave. I remember when you gave me an allowance every month. I remember when you use to tell me that Shirley and Ruby were my favorite aunts, well I love all of your sisters very much. Hey I still have the picture of you when you were little. I remember when I showed you my state project of Arkansas, you looked at it and said I did a good job. I got an A+ on my state project. I bet you would be happy that I got a good grade on my state project.
I miss you so much and I Love You!!

To my beloved brother Benny

Early this morning as I arise, my heart was so heavy and yet still smiled. The sun glistened and filled the sky, I knew in my heart my brother whispered goodbye. No words can express the sun that I saw, transparent as pure gold whispering goodbye. The road was long with life trials he walk through, I'll miss you all and my love will never die. Love conquers all and again says hi. The sun has set on Benny's life. He stepped into eternity resting in the bosom of Jesus Christ. The sun glistened on a beautiful March day and danced for brother Benny in the month of May. I will miss you. With my whole heart, I LOVE YOU

SHIRLEY DIAS

May 11, 2010

To my dearest family, some things I'd like to say...
but first of all, to let you know, that I arrived okay.
I'm writing this from heaven. Here I dwell with God above.
Here, there's no more tears of sadness; here is just eternal love.

Please do not be unhappy just because I'm out of sight.
Remember that I'm with you every morning, noon and night.
That day I had to leave you when my life on earth was through,
God picked me up and hugged me and He said, "I welcome you."

It's good to have you back again; you were missed while you were gone.
As for your dearest family, they'll be here later on.
I need you here badly; you're part of my plan.
There's so much that we have to do, to help our mortal man.

God gave me a list of things, that he wished for me to do.
And foremost on the list, was to watch and care for you.
And when you lie in bed at night, the day's chores put to flight.
God and I are closest to you....in the middle of the night.

When you think of my life on earth, and all those loving years
because you are only human, they are bound to bring you tears.
But do not be afraid to cry; it does relieve the pain.
Remember there would be no flowers, unless there was some rain.

I wish that I could tell you all that God has planned.
But if I were to tell you, you wouldn't understand.
But one thing is for certain, though my life on earth is o'er.
I'm closer to you now, than I ever was before.

There are many rocky roads ahead of you and many hills to climb;
but together we can do it by taking one day at a time.
It was always my philosophy and I'd like it for you too...
that as you give unto the world, the world will give to you.

If you can help somebody who's in sorrow and pain,
then you can say to God at night......"My day was not in vain."
And now I am contented....that my life has been worthwhile,
knowing as I passed along the way, I made somebody smile.

So if you meet somebody who is sad and feeling low,
just lend a hand to pick him up, as on your way you go.
When you're walking down the street, and you've got me on your mind;
I'm walking in your footsteps only half a step behind.

And when it's time for you to go.... from that body to be free,
remember you're not going.....you're coming here to me.
