87, of Phoenix, AZ passed away on November 9, 2016. Bernice was born the ninth of ten children on April 28, 1929 in Oskaloosa, Iowa. She loved and cared for family and friends and, despite her own sufferings, served others in their suffering. As a woman gifted with music and filled with humor and joy, she taught all who knew her the ways of Jesus with actions, not just words. She loved to play Scrabble, work a crossword puzzle, or go 'bug hunting' and 'flower smelling' with her grandchildren. She always loved to gather around the piano and find harmonies with her kids and siblings. We will miss her made from scratch brownies, of course but much more we will miss observing her deep and abiding faith in God. She is preceded in death by her first husband, Ray Hugen, and by her husband of a second marriage, Herm Kredit. She is survived by her four children, Miriam Zoetewey (Henry), Rodney Hugen (Kathy), Mark Hugen (Jaci), and Ruth Valencia (Bryan), ten grandchildren, and thirteen great grandchildren. A celebration of her life will be held November 19, 2016 at 10:30am at Phoenix Christian Reformed Church, 2438 E. Earll Drive, Phoenix, AZ. In lieu of flowers, contributions to two causes she loved are suggested: The Village Church, c/o Rod Hugen, 9147 E.
