Bertalan Szechenyi Obituary
78, of Phoenix, Arizona passed away on August 20, 2015. Bertalan "Bert" Sandor Rudolf Ma¡ria Gobert Szechenyi, Grof of Sarvar-Felsovideki was born on May 22, 1937 to Marton (1st line) and Judith (2nd line) Szechenyi in Budapest, Hungary. In 1945 he left Hungary with his family to live in Austria and in 1956 he immigrated to the United States. He joined the US Air Force and was assigned the Crash unit at various AFB airports. In 1962 he married Ramona Stauner (from Wisconsin) whom he had met while crossing the English Channel. He worked in the Aerospace field for most of his career. His hobbies included flying (glider and power), boating, camping, and fishing. He was a member of the U.S. Power Squadron, promoting boater education and safe boating practices. He passed away at his home at the age of 78. Survivors include his sons, Chris Szechenyi (Rossmoor, CA) and Scott Szechenyi (Aptos, CA), his sisters Agota Szechenyi-Ballhausen (Rome, Italy), Alexandra "Alexis" Szechenyi (Fresno, CA), and Judy Bowen (Fresno, CA), and his brothers Domonkos "Dominic" Szechenyi (Seattle, WA) and Sandor Szechenyi (Klagenfurt, Austria). He is preceded in death by his parents, Marton and Judith A Celebration of Life will take place on November 7th in Phoenix, Arizona. Bert Szechenyi will be taken back to Hungary and interred at the Szechenyi Family Mausoleum & Cemetery in Nagycenk, Hungary.

Burt and I worked together for years bringing literature about Safe Boating Classes to Marine Dealers for the Phoenix Sail and Power Squadron. We also went to Rocky Point Mexico a few times. He would stay with Gene Erkert.

I worked with Bert about twenty years ago.
I always loved his great stories and funny sense of humor. His work with the defense department, Goodyear Aerospace,and his love of country were stellar. He was a great friend. It is a privilege to have known him.
